Dairy Queen sells their used syrup buckets for $3 around here. They are about a foot tall and a foot in diameter. Drilled some drainage holes in the bottom, and they fit 3 cherry tomato plants each. (You kind of have to look through the leaves in this pic to see the buckets since I was actually taking a picture of the plant...)

In an aeroponic, hydroponic tower. Being short on ground space and available sunny space, I found this tower that allows me to grow at least 20 different fruits, vegetables or herbs in approximately 5 sq ft. They grow about 3 times as fast and no weeding is required! In this picture I grew basil, several different types of tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, strawberries, basil, spinach, squash and bell peppers.
