In the Pacific Northwest, this inspiring home office setup is where Ellen Weiss runs her interior design business. A colorful, midcentury-modern-inspired built-in desk and storage unit by Kerf Design provides Weiss with plenty of room off the kitchen to work, while complementing the home’s style. Drawers and cabinets keep office supplies organized and out of view, and shelves show off decorative accessories.

Kitchen and bath designer Laura Andersson works from her walk-out basement family room. “There are large windows along the whole west wall. I love working in a beautiful space with so much natural daylight,” she says.

A nearly 8-foot-long library table from the 1870s serves as Andersson’s desk, which she had modified with lift-up panels for extra storage. “It’s great to have a large surface to spread out client notebooks and samples,” she says.

The desk anchors the room, with other elements enhancing the space’s usability. “I pin inspiration photos on two large burlap boards on the wall behind the desk,” Andersson says. “I store files, resources and samples in the hall closet. Office supplies are in the credenzas.”

In Arizona, designer Glenda Evers runs her home staging and design business from home. In this office, as we saw in many of the home workspaces that were uploaded, a sturdy desk, natural light and a window view proved to be the most popular ingredients.

Designer Marie Frenkel has a home office off her home’s main living area. “My office looks out onto the lake for lots of inspiration,” she says.

Frenkel works from a desk she repurposed from Green Demolitions, a nonprofit that recycles materials and furniture from luxury remodels. “I have a large desk area to work on multiple projects and lots of filing for client files and bookcases for reference and supplier materials,” she says.
