I'm not aware of any heated skylights. Velux (and probably other manufacturers) make a "snow load" skylight that is designed to handle the weight of snow on the glass.

We added a light tube in this Master Bathroom, which added significant daylight. Centered between 2 decorative chandeliers and trimmed out with frosted glass panel.

we live in an oak hammock in florida - house gets little natural light due to 100 yr. old oaks which pretty much cover the entire house --- we added 2 light tubes in our kitchen/great room cathedral ceiling- INCREDIBLE DIFFERENCE !! we LOVE them --- wish we could afford to do every room in the house !!
