Well, style development lasts forever (study painters, please).

The most important, make sure that you understand WHAT you are photographing.

In the interior/architectural field you have to have a lot of knowledge on history of architecture, furniture, fashion, fabric, etc. I just personally travelled to Milan to gain some additional knowledge in this field.

These days anybody owning/renting camera becomes a "photographer". And because the door or window does not move he things he is already a professional architectural photographer.

I (Keleigh) went to a very formal art school and have always been totally art-obsessed, especially with regard to painting -- as is Ron. My point was that technical skills can be learned, but not everyone has the eye or the craftsmanship to produce beautiful images. That's why good architectural photographers matter. I don't think we need to know the history of a chair to photograph it beautifully. We need to be visual people. Interesting thread. New to Houzz...good crowd!

Ron, if you photograph the chair alone it may not make the difference. But once you photograph Morrison with Louis XIV in the Renzo Piano interiors you have to understand what 's coming. And make sure that you know porcelain as well, so it matches the style.

Remember, as you've learned in school: all what's in the picture is your responsibility.

Good interior designers rely heavily on the taste of good architectural photographers.
