@huronsd, those are Cherner stools. The chair version was originally designed by Normann Cherner in the 1950s. Karen and Mark scored theirs on Craigslist. But The Cherner Chair company still makes them new here in the USA. They are on the pricey side but are special handmade works of art, IMHO.

@huronsd they are made by Cherner and I got them on Craigslist but you can buy them at many modern furniture stores including Design Within Reach

@hsmeghan No we didn't get a special hood. I ordered the hood with an extension kit to mount to ceilings 9'-10' tall. A sheet metal contractor made a custom extension above that to join the extension to the ceiling.
