Very stylish. I think if I see one more all white kitchen with stainless appliances I will scream!

The wood countertop on the island balances the marble and is an excellent work surface so long as no one accidentally uses it for a cutting board. Ours is cleaned with soap and water and treated with butcher block oil every other week. Really holds up well. Dents, scratchs and burns add to the humanity of the surface but can be easily sanded and retreated.

@judybath - Yes, many all white kitchens are seriously lacking in imagination and can leave you feeling, well..cold.

I agree that wood is a great bench top surface. Dents can also be steamed out with an iron held above the surface.

I think wood is undervalued as a very hardy and practical surface. I agree that combining different bench top surfaces adds interest and warmth to a kitchen, especially natural products like wood and stone.

This is a stunningly beautiful kitchen. In keeping with the black and white theme, they chose white appliances (except for the gorgeous range.) HOORAY! I am sick to death of stainless steel. My only criticism is the subway tiles. I wish the designers and homeowners could use their imaginations and select something other than the trendy subway tiles. After standing on New York City subway platforms waiting for trains for my four high school years and the subsequent years of working and staring at those white subway tiles, it's the last thing I would select for a kitchen. There are so many other versatile options that are far more attractive. Please designers - DO SOMETHING about this horrible trend.
