I have a loft in-law little place like this. Was going to gut it and start over because I own it. But thanks to you I think I will prove I too can pretend it is a rental, save some money for a trip this summer, and hang some lights. I have always secretly loved them, but considered them kind of hippyish and cheap. Now I realize I was being a snob at my own expense. Besides I came from the hippy era and didn’t get to do anything fun. Married a banker. Am alone now. I’ll post pics of my little place this summer.

Marly42~ an idea: a focal wall of Forest Green & the rest a creamy white; move both pieces of art to the green wall for a focal point, then add some live green plants in the room, maybe a fiddle leaf fig. The wall on the right looks like the main focal point. Be sure to hang at eye level, the art work, not too high. I would move the reading lamp to the right of the couch on the left & the table lamp to the corner furniture piece. Add some green pillows, get rid of the red and add a grapefruit pink & a grapefruit pink soft knitted throw (West Elm has this color now on sale). The green and vibrant pink will update the room. Your grey rug is nice, keep it. Do you have any overhead light in the room? If not, maybe add a uplight canister light on the wall opposite the sofas, it looks like that might be where your TV is stationed. Best Wishes. You can check out HOUZZ for other color schemes.

That is one gorgeous dining table and lovely chairs that are perfect with it.
