I agree with the trailer reference above. Put a snow roof over a trailer and you've got it - and a lot cheaper too.

I also agree with the trailer comment. That's actually the reason I came to the article. It seems like for all of the criticisms here of design, if you take into account the type of materials, and perhaps even the number of people living under one roof, the design is as sustainable as you make it. For me, it would be easy (and cheaper) to build one of these over the top of my mobile home, rather than trash the trailer and start a whole new home from scratch. I need a new roof and something stable enough to attach solar panels and water harvesting equipment. Green? It depends on who you are, what you start with, and where you're going. Yeah, some of these are luxury homes, but some are a good old a vernacular style that probably won't die here in the South anytime soon. Might as well blend in.
