New Ivy App Gives Designers Tracking and Measuring Tools and More
Design pros tackling multiple projects can access new mobile features on the go
With the launch of its first-ever mobile app on Oct. 23, Ivy — the business and project management platform for interior designers and other home design companies that joined Houzz in February — aims to bring a wide array of helpful tools to the palms of designers’ hands. Ivy customers who download the app on their iPhone, iPad or Android devices will find easy-to-use features that include to-do lists, real-time expense and time tracking, enhanced product library capabilities and an augmented reality measurement tool.
“The app focuses on those key features designers want at their fingertips when they’re on the go,” Ivy cofounder Lee Rotenberg says, “so it’s empowering them to be more effective at their jobs when they’re not sitting at a desk.”
To distill the Ivy experience into a user-friendly app, the team relied on user feedback about the types of tools that would make life easier for busy design pros.

Designers were eager to store and organize product photos and information on the go, for instance. Product library features now allow users to access all their products, share them with clients, track payments and add new products from anywhere.
If a designer spots a coffee table in a showroom that would work for a particular client, they can take a photo of the table, enter product details and add it to the project of their choice, or just keep it in their library for later.
“For a designer to be in a showroom or at a market like High Point Market and to be able to snap a photo and upload it into their product library or assign it to one of their projects really streamlines the process for them,” Rotenberg says.

Similarly, the app’s room measurement tool can help keep projects running smoothly using augmented reality. Designers will have the ability to create instant floor plans by scanning the space they want to measure, placing “points” in each corner of the room and adding windows and doors. The resulting floor plan is then exported as a PDF that the designer can attach to projects and later reference to make sure furniture and other products work in the space.
Other app features include integrated to-do lists, project spend tracking and talk-to-text note taking.
“Up until today we’ve always empowered users, but this app takes it to a whole new level,” Rotenberg says. “This allows them to be on the go and to always be optimizing the way they run their business and not having to be sitting in front of a computer. It truly gives them more time for design.”
