I second the laundry in closet. I did it in my last house. The laundry and walk in closet were located just off the master bath. Super convenient. Still trying to figure out how to make it work in my current (smaller) house.

Does anyone have a problem with the pedestals used for front loading washers/dryers? Like shaking as the washer is spinning?

Ok, this is going to sound beyond posh, but here's what we did. When we first bought our vacation home the bedrooms & laundry were on the 2nd floor. No problem. BUT, when we decided to add a master suite on the 1st floor (both because we're older & for future resale value), I insisted that we put a laundry in the master bath. My husband thought I was nuts, but now we just love it. The added benefit is that years later I decided to start an Airbnb using my two upstairs bedrooms & bath. The laundry, located in a closet opening to the landing, is now so convenient for me to wash all the guest linens, plus the guests can use it during their stay.

However, I have seen laundry rooms incorporated into mudrooms, with a shower area for both people and dogs. Now that is a really smart idea!!
