Open Web Steel Joist
Give your roof or floor a support network, woven between the beams
An open web steel joist (OWSJ) is a lightweight steel web between beams that utilizes the strength of a triangle; the beamed trusses are run parallel to one another to support roofs or the floor above.
The open web steel joists used here are steel beams with steel webbing. This style is an alternative to steel girders or large solid wood or glulam beams.
These joists have the advantages of being inexpensive, lightweight and built offsite, and ducting and electrical work can be run through them.
