Suzzus: I have traps from Lowes, but have found that cider or any other fruit vinegar works. Just use a plastic bottle with a piece of foil held in place by rubber bands. No, they generally don't find their way out (the traps I've purchased have holes about 1/8 inch wide).

Use a toothpick to make them just small enough to squeeze through but not easy to find their way out

I just made a trap a few days ago. I cut off the top of a water bottle about 1 1/2 inches below the shoulder, used an icepick to punch a small hole in the cap, dropped a piece of over-ripe peach into the bottom part of the bottle and put the top part of the bottle upside down into the bottom part. Worked well, but I like the vinegar idea. I have made mosquito traps the same way using a two liter bottle and place them in the yard well away from the patio!
