For those with negative comments regarding indoor pools, sometimes people need one for medical reasons; therefore if you are fortunate enough to have the funds, you make it work despite all the intricacies and necessary moisture balance. Pools are part of physical therapy for many people. Getting out in the winter to go to the gym in a cold climate can negate the very purpose for going. You would freeze your butt off getting back home and locking up your joints and muscles in the cold negates the very purpose of swimming in the first place. We are in the process of looking for homes with indoor pools now.

I agree that most people who have pools in their homes probably did it for a specific reason, either health or they were a competitive swimmer (saw that once.) What I can't figure out is why, in almost every case, do they put the pool smack dab in the middle of the house, so they can never sell it to people who don't want a pool in the middle of their house? I would build the pool room off to the side in such a way that it could easily become a room without having to reconfigure the whole house.
