Simply Beautiful Hanukkah: Make an Easy Citrus Menorah
Fruit and candles create a fragrant Festival of Lights display that's a treat for the eyes
Food photographer and writer Erin Gleeson of The Forest Feast is giving her menorah a simple new spin this year. See the beautiful and fragrant result she got with some well-chosen pieces of citrus and a pack of Hanukkah candles.
Slice the bottom off the orange, then slice each of the four limes in half.
Use a paring knife or other small knife to cut a small hole — about the same size as the bottom of the candles — in the top of each lime.
Push a candle into each piece of fruit. These long orange Hanukkah candles contrast with the bright lime.
Voilà! Light the candles each night or just save this display for a special Hanukkah celebration.
As the candles heat up and burn down, they'll release oils from the fruit, making for one great-smelling menorah.
Keep it outside or put it on a long, rectangular tray for a kitchen or dining room display.
