Our front door opens and you can see straight up the hall to the kitchen and dining area. The study and living room come off on the right. We've popped a step ladder in this little corner right inside the door to section off the first part of the hall as an entrance. A notice board will go above it and as a bonus the step stool is functional to help me dust the tops of bookshelves in the study.
