Being a teacher in Baltimore, I took my second grade class to the Flag House every year, where the students learned about Mary Pickersgill and her amazing contribution to our nation's history. We followed that experience with a trip to Ft. McHenry, and learned about the Battle of Baltimore in 1814 and Francis Scott Key's writing of the Star Spangled Banner. All of that is such important local history, and I was so happy to see the Houzz article and to remember those rooms in Mary's house, preserved as they were for over two hundred years. Thanks for a great article!
