I know right, but some of the new one colour lights done on the patio of deck look great for a party!

This is my former home.

100 C-9 lights in the dogwood tree, net lights on azaleas, yew and arborvitae. String lights on garland, bottom of bow windows and on wreath.

You know those hard plastic shells that are impossible to open? I saved a flat section from one and cut ovals out of it. About 3/4”x2” or so. Used a hole punch to make a hole near one end, and a Sharpie to label each string. Zip tie to attach the tag to the plug end of lights.

Labels read Arb 1A (for arborvitae), Arb 1B, 2, 3, 4A, and 4B because Arbs 1 & 4 we large and needed 2 nets each. Az (azalea) 1-4, yew, and the garlands were labeled DR and FR.

Then there were the “maps”. One page was a u drawing of the front of the house showing the master timer outlet and the four extension cords that plugged to it. Detailed - 50’ orange cord to wreath, 50’ green with built in 3way. You get the idea.

Next we’re the pages showing a bow window & shrubs, detailing where each net went, specifying male & female plugs and what gets plugged in where. 3’ brown ext cord, 6’ brown ext cord, etc. Clip clothespins secured net lights to the shrubs, cup hooks held lights under the windows.

This sounds more complicated than it actually is. It saved me hours of work each year not having to try to remember what went where.

Our lights went up during warmer fall weather but never turned on before Thanksgiving night. Lit every night until Little Christmas.
