Ten Tips for Giving Your Bathroom Personality
I've lived with many types of bathrooms in my life, from the one that doubles as a hallway in my parents' house to the groady dormitory shared bathroom, from the tiny builder's spec linoleum special to my current one that has an antique clawfoot and antique icebox repurposed as the vanity.
There are so many options today including wall color, materials, furnishings, hardware, wallpaper, light fixtures, cabinets, sinks, mirrors, bathtubs, tile shape and artwork. The images below show what you can do to add personality to your bathroom, whether it's cramped or luxurious.

2. Approach bathroom design like you would living room or bedroom design. This will inspire unexpected design moves. Whoever designed this bathroom treated it like any other room in the house. Notice the wallpaper, chandelier, wallpaper and cabinet, and, O.K., the big tree? It sounds crazy on paper but it looks amazing.
3. Don't run to a big box store and grab typical cabinets, mirrors, and light fixtures. Look at how beautiful this mirror is. It allows the trellis print wallpaper to show through. Also, pay attention to light fixtures. These sconces are the icing on the cake.
4. Having said that, you can make simple mirrors and fixtures work well in a streamlined bathroom. Here the unique pedestal sink is the star of the room.
5. Don't let a small space stop you from going big with design. This red wallpaper and clawfoot are totally unexpected and lend scads of personality to this bathroom.
6. If you want to include a bathtub in another room, go for it. The tile and curtains allow it to be separated from the other room when necessary.
7. Consider repurposing a front door for the bathroom. If it's a bungalow style door with window panes, you can frost them for privacy.
SIDE NOTE: Does this bathroom open up to some sort of terrace or something? It looks like that door leads directly outdoors!

10. Have fun with hardware. The gold toned spout, t.p. holder and light fixture are the only punch of color in this room and it works very well.
