@jean_f35: It all depends on what you are drying. What you require will be different than the homeowners in the article. BTW, I use hooks as part of my drying solution. It's easy to hang a hanger with a shirt on it from a hook than throw it over a line. That's just an example. I hang my wet raincoat and other coats on a hook. If you have a different system, that's wonderful.

I also had an apartment that had no dryer but a washing machine in the bath. I put all my stuff on hangers and hung them on the shower curtain rod. Things that didn't hang, I hung on hooks. One does what one needs to do to get things done - laundry room or no laundry room. In the meantime - dream away. :)

Jean_f35: I agree! Sure, a pair of socks etc can hang on hooks, but most things need proper hangers etc. I do like this laundry room shown, no doubt, but, like you, I would need some additional things. (I also think these hooks are a bit low to hang a shirt on a hanger.) As we speak I am having an addtl hanging cabinet installed in a ca. 4’-wide niche in our laundry room; the previous owners of this house had white wire racks everywhere, and nothing but. This new cab is 16” deep and tall, using most of the 10’ ceiling height; it will be used to house bird seed, not-so-often-used cookbooks and other rarely used items. Below this cab we will have a bar for hangers, as well as an accordion hanging thingy (the proper, professional term, I believe, lol), since we also use this area to hang our snowy parkas etc. The opposite wall already holds 3 cabs, and below those are a sink and washer/dryer. It had been my goal to have a large “task room” in my next (this) house, with plenty of space for laundry, extra storage, second fridge, wine fridge, my desk etc, but, alas, I did not get one. Luckily, there is a bedroom with a nicely-sized walk-in closet right next door, and this room now houses my desk, ironing board, wrapping paper, wine fridge, file cabs etc. This room also has a niche, ca. 5’ in width, and at some point (when all my more important areas are finished) I will have a taller wine fridge and cubbies built in there, as well. Baby steps.......

I love this laundry room. It beats mine by a mile. That folding table is what I really need for mine. I will do that some time. I would have added a drying rack and clothes line across the room because I rarely put my own clothes in the dryer, but that's the only change I would make. I wanted that sink when we put ours in five years ago, but it was too expensive. I still intend to get one like that sometime. Priorities.
