Technology is a wonderful thing and tell your guests there are great things to see and do in your area. Tell them what time you are can contribute to their enjoyment and send them email or texts with either links, websites, or apps to help them navigate their own entertainment, housing, transportation etc. Setting expectations is key.

Not a morning person is the hardest part of guests. Everyone needs breakfast, you can’t set it ALL out the night before, no one wants to figure out your cooktop to make themselves eggs. This is the part that always “gets me”.

I’m also not a morning person. That hasn’t stopped me from welcoming friends and family when they need a place to sleep. If my guests don’t like the cereal, muffins, or danish that I provide, they can go to one of the coffee shops in town. So far no one has complained nor chosen to stay elsewhere when they’re in town. And the only times anyone has gone out for breakfast has been when that was the most convenient time for the friend they want to visit with who hasn’t provided them with a comfortable bed.
