I have tried to find a less expensive floor for our new home we will be building next year. But I just can't find one that I love like I love walnut. I want EXACTLY the floor in the Willow Tree Interiors photo (bedroom floor). Is there anything I need to know to "guarantee" I will end up with that much variation in color and that finish?

Oak & Broad

Black Walnut has lots of natural variation in the Character Grade. The species itself has many different colors.

Walnut is soft yes but also note it is very stable. As oak and broad has mentioned it does well with a less shinier finish.Pictured below is a walnut floor finished with Rubio monocoat and universal maintenance oil.
