Two Mirrors Work for Many Homeowners
Seventy-seven percent of renovating homeowners install new mirrors during their master bathroom remodel, and among that group more than half (52%) install two mirrors, while 1 in 10 installs three or more.
Twenty percent of those who upgrade their mirrors choose options with LED lighting. Some new mirrors have advanced features like an anti-fog system (14%) or hidden plugs (7%).
Medicine Cabinets Are Commonly Recessed
Among the 31% of renovating homeowners who upgrade their medicine cabinet as part of their master bathroom renovation, 1 in 3 chooses a custom or semicustom option, down from 40% last year. Most people who upgrade the medicine cabinet recess it into the wall (70%).
This part of the bathroom is getting fancier than it used to be, with some medicine cabinets featuring premium elements such as mirrors and lighting both inside and out. Lighting inside upgraded vanities rose to 19% this year, compared with 13% in 2019. And hidden plugs are now the top built-in feature for upgraded medicine cabinets (22%), up five percentage points from last year.
