For the 'painting the rectangle shy', maybe some minimal wall stickers would get you started. There are tons of designs and shapes, and you might 'suggest' a rectangle with some gaps in between? Don't forget those awesome laser levels. (Gift!) And the 'post-it' glue sticky kinds are very forgiving. Thank you again, Erika, for more wonderful ideas and examples. Happy Mothers' Day.
