I was lucky enough to obtain some wide tongue and groove bead board from an early 1900's building in Galveston, Texas. I plan to use it on one wall in the kitchen, as a wainscote, with a plaster finish on the wall above. Thanks for the tips on penetrating and beeswax finishes!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but the danger of lead paint in salvaged wood is very high! Please encourage anyone who is considering using chippy old planks/siding/etc. to test for lead! I was determined to use some of our old barn's wonderful white siding in our kitchen renovation--- however it tested STRONGLY for lead. Needless to say, did not want it anywhere in the house!

Maggierateye, I just saw this post. How did you find this wood? I am working on a story the interesting ways people find reclaimed wood for diy and building projects. Thanks very much.
