What’s New in Tile for 2026

Bold color, natural tones and multidimensional surfaces were featured in new collections at the recent TISE trade show

Cool gray and white have taken a back seat to warmer tones in tile, judging by the offerings on display at The International Surfaces Event (TISE), held recently in Las Vegas. Muted palettes of earth, spice, water and sky were featured in many of the collections, but bolder feel-good hues continue to brighten things up. Subway tile still dominates but it’s trending longer, glossier and more colorful and handmade-looking. Shaped tiles are making way for increasingly creative three-dimensional tile surfaces. Many collections offer mix-and-match choices of flat and dimensional tiles for a personalized, one-of-a-kind look.

Here are highlights from the Jan. 26-29 trade show for the tile, stone and floor coverings industries and the upcoming International Builders’ Show in late February. Some tile collections are already available and others will be rolling out throughout 2026.

1. Feel-Good Color

Colors designed to make you feel happy, whether bold or muted, are showing up in many tile collections, possibly signaling a move away from post-pandemic cool neutral palettes. Today, getting an instant-reward dopamine hit from your decor means saying yes to a bright blue backsplash, just because it makes you feel joy.

Daltile’s Contempee tile makes a colorful statement in this backsplash, composed of the slightly raised surface Star pattern in the Bonnet color. The 4-by-4-inch glazed ceramic tile has a crackled finish and comes in five colors and coordinating 4-inch zellige-look squares.

The color-drenching trend in interior design is evident in the tile world. Here, Daltile’s Contempee 4-inch-square Handcrafted tiles in Marigold cover a kitchen wall and island base in varying shades of yellow.

Luminique in Juniper from Daltile adds a big burst of color to this backsplash. The pattern is called Circle and the surface is slightly raised to add even more drama. The collection has four patterns in four colors (including Arctic White and Dune for those who prefer a toned-down neutral). There are also framed picket mosaics in the same colors.

This backsplash celebrates color and dimension with Plurify, a new glazed ceramic tile from E by Emser Tile. There’s a ton of variety in the new collection, including 12 colors, 10 shapes and 13 sizes. The three-dimensional Diamond style in red is shown here.

With varying shades of the same color, American Olean’s new Studio Haven tile in Honey is perfect for color drenching in a bathroom. Here, the 4-inch-square tiles line the walls and bench, with coordinating 1½-inch hex mosaics on the floor. The zellige-style tiles come in six colors, including off-white, beige, brown and gray, as well as a 4-by-12-inch rectangle and a picket mosaic.

If you’re a chocolate or coffee lover, this backsplash from E by Emser’s Plurify collection should make you happy. The Espresso color in the Feather pattern is like a warm cup of java, and it coordinates well with cream (of course) and other neutral tones.

And if your feel-good colors are a bit more toned-down, here’s the Feather pattern from Emser’s Plurify collection in the creamy Milk hue.

These pretty tile patterns at the Adex booth featured a soft and soothing color palette.

2. Back to Nature

Greens, blues, terra cottas and creamy neutrals inspired by grass, flowers, sky, water and earth remain popular in decorative tile. Floral patterns in muted tones are also still a big part of biophilic design in tile.

Glossy new Pigmenta glazed ceramic tiles from Emser have a handcrafted look, with color tones varying from tile to tile. Here, 3-by-12-inch tiles in the Dye color glimmer and undulate on a kitchen backsplash. There’s also a 3-by-8-inch size, and the collection includes seven earthy colors.

Arizona Tile’s new Terme series has seven nature-inspired colors, including the earthy tones seen here. Other colors include blue, green and several neutrals. The elongated subway tiles come in fluted and flat surfaces that can be mixed for a unique look. The tiles measure 2¼ by 9½ inches. The collection will be available in the spring.

Derby Bronze, shown on this backsplash, is a new glossy earth tone from MSI’s Flamenco collection. Charcoal is another new color in the collection. “I think the new colors are a nod to the whole warming trend that’s coming in,” MSI’s Emily Holle says.

Here are other colors from MSI’s Flamenco collection that were on display at the show. Celtic Aqua, seen on the background wall, is a new color. There’s a total of seven colors of 2-by18-inch tiles in the collection.

Zest is a new ceramic collection from MSI that has five nature-inspired colors: Sand, Aloe, Star, Sky and Midnight, in 4-inch squares and 2½-by-8-inch rectangles. The tiles have a shiny satin finish inspired by handmade Morrocan zellige tiles. The display seen here shows how the rectangular Aloe tile mixes well with the 4-inch Sand and Aloe.

9 Paint Colors Poised to Dominate in 2026

The light-catching Umi porcelain tile in the Oxido color from Arizona Tile has realistic stony flecks on a goldish-brown background. It’s part of a new collection with six earth tone colors that includes a 2¼-by-9½-inch rectangle, 2-inch penny round and 6-inch hexagon. Umi will be available this spring.

What could be more natural than a wall of plants and flowers? E by Emser’s new Parati collection includes large-format porcelain tile with floral designs that mimic wallpaper. There are five patterns of 24-by-47-inch tiles. The Jardin design is shown here.

5 Big-Picture Bathroom Trends Shaping Remodels in 2025

Terra-cotta tones continue to be highly popular in tile. Here’s the Cotto color from E by Emser’s Plurify collection. The 3-by-8-inch glazed ceramic tile is called Lava and has a glossy, crackly and slightly pitted surface for a handmade look.

3. Dimensional Dynamos

Tiles with a raised surface have been popular for a few years, and now tile designers are getting even more creative. All manner of shapes and dimensional designs were on display at the Surfaces show, from waves, grooves and circles to leaves, stars and diamonds. Many have handcrafted looks with surfaces that undulate, and some have a mixed glossy and matte lappato finish. E by Emser’s new Plurify Diamond design sparkles in white on this backsplash.

Another choice from E by Emser’s Plurify line is this trippy square called Wave, in the Sky color. There’s a corresponding flat square tile that can be mixed in, to balance with the 3D.

This pretty pattern is called Weave, in Arctic White, from Daltile’s Luminique collection. The tile measures 12 by 24 inches and can be mixed with flat, fluted and other styles from the same collection.

Marazzi’s new Terramater tile has a modern industrial feel with a slightly raised surface for its 3D option, which can be combined with coordinating flat-surface tiles for a unique, moody look. There are six cool-toned colors of 3½-by-15-inch glossy porcelain tile. The Wave Crest style is seen here on the upper wall, with the flat style below, in the color Lichen.

Fluting continues to be a force in dimensional tile, with varying styles showing up in many of the show’s collections. Here’s Daltile’s take from its ceramic Luminique collection, in Arctic White.

MSI added Maple to its collection of UrbanSlat fluted ceramic wall tiles. The tiles measure 16 by 48 inches and, with minimal grout lines, provide a seamless look for backsplashes, shower surrounds and accent walls.

You can give your wall dramatic dimension with Arizona Tile’s light-catching Diamond style from its new Contour series, made in Spain and set to be released later this month. All seven styles in the ceramic collection are white, five with dimensional matte surfaces and two with flat (one glossy, one matte).

Martel is an extruded porcelain tile from E by Emser with raised waves and two curved styles that can be mixed and matched for a bespoke design. There are four colors, and special glazing ensures that no two tiles are alike. Shown here are the Snow and Bark colors in the 4-inch and 2-by-4-inch sizes.

Designers talk about a tile’s movement — raised features that vary and “move” depending on the light — but if the movement seems overwhelming, you can always slow things down by mixing the dimensional tile with flat tile. That’s what’s happening on this striking bathroom wall, which features Daltile’s Contempee Star pattern above the flat Handcrafted style. Both are in the Ivy color and are 4 inches square. The collection also has four other colors.

Ribbella is a new grooved-surface porcelain tile in the E by Emser line. The high-gloss tile measures 4 by 15 inches and comes in five subdued colors, including brick, charcoal, two whites and this sage green called Forest.

Wood slats showed up in a number of displays, including MSI’s Acoustic Wood Slats collection, which has several new colors of natural wood panels, in addition to new painted, reeded and macro wider-slat panels that debuted. The panels measure 10.63 by 94.5 inches and 9½ by 94½ inches. They’re simple to install and their sound-absorbing qualities are perfect for media rooms and as accents behind televisions and beds, says MSI’s Fallon Crawford.

4. Stone Styles

Arizona Tile’s new Compatta Pise is a sandstone-look porcelain that could pass for the real thing, with surface striations that imitate clay, sand, silt and gravel. Tiles will measure 24 by 48 inches and will be available this spring in three colors, with Melange on display here.

Tessere is a marble-patterned mosaic tile from MSI. It has a polished finish with hints of charcoal, beige and taupe veining. “I love this because of the whole chocolate brown movement we’re seeing right now. This would make a beautiful bathroom floor,” MSI’s Holle says.

Elbe is a new collection from MSI with a semipolished lappato finish that looks like natural stone but is actually porcelain. It comes in large-format sizes as well as 2-inch mosaics. The collection incorporates MSI’s TileTouch technology, with a textured surface that comes close to the real thing. All four colors in the collection were on display at the Surfaces show. “People love the realism. They love the texture,” Holle says.

Arizona Tile had several new natural stone collections on display. Sahara Limestone will have 10 sizes in varying patterns. Shown here are the 2-inch-square hexagonal multifinish tiles that mix flat, textured and striated surfaces. The collection will be available this spring.

Arizona Tile’s new Calacatta Royale Marble will come in 10 sizes in various patterns and three finishes. Shown here is the multifinish elongated hex. The mix of finishes on the natural stone creates a casual yet elegant look for a backsplash or accent wall.

Tesoro had a variety of stone on display, including marble and Dolomite terrazzo mosaics in shapes including penny round, rectangle and triangle.

Natural Stone Resources displayed a variety of square natural marble tiles from Italy, Spain and China that can mixed and matched.

A display of limestone, travertine, marble and sandstone from Natural Stone Resources shows the unique, organic qualities of the stone. Travertine and its imitations were seen in numerous displays at the Surfaces show.
