It would be super if this article included what you need to become qualified to be one of these things -- wow, I'd love to be a color consultant, that sounds like so much fun!

I just want to know who to contact to replace a hanging stove hood which I might want to move over a little from where it now hangs. A contractor, or some kind of handyman type person? Do I need an electrician?

who fixes the work? :) We hired some good contractors to do a fair amount of work and they did it to 90% satisfaction however, the cement patio they poured has a low spot that collects water (boo hoo). They said they would come back to fix it but then ... they disappeared. So ... who do I hire to fix this minor repair (that is beyond my DIY ability)?

There's a professional for each job you want done. Any of these professionals do the job of the others so you should really think about what kind of job you really need to get done. Luckily, there's no job for personal taste and that's all you, the owner, the one who will live in the particular space and that's the main decision to make when putting together a place.
