Good article and discussion.

I have incorporated some Mediterranean influence in our new kitchen addition (black hardware, two open shelves for pottery and iron items, and mosaic tiles with 4inx4in backsplash). I know it's out of step with the current mostly white and marble kitchen trend, but I find it feels homey and has individual flair. I was led into this design to coordinate with the dining room beside it, which has light terracotta tiles and heavy wood table and chairs (with banquette).

While white kitchens can be beautiful, they don’t make my heart sing like the natural, classic elements of Mediterranean style. I’m so glad to know that others love it just as much!

This is one of those rare articles that educates the reader on a particular style without pushing it as the latest trendy "must do" styles.
