We operate as a design-build contractor but also work with other design professionals to implement their plans as well. In either case, our team approaches each project with the foundation of landscape architecture, while attending to construction detailing, circulation patterns, and the integration of "floor, wall, and ceiling" concept for creating outdoor spaces. Finally, we augment and complete each project with appropriate plant materials such as sod, trees, shrubs, groundcovers, or seasonal color. Our work includes vital elements such as grading, corrective or preventive drainage, water features, pavers, driveways, retaining walls, screening or any function that is crucial to garden design. Our projects are exceptionally intimate, personal, and detailed. Our experience in the Atlanta market for the past 20+ years enables us to serve the most discerning clientele. The workmanship of his crew was topnotch. John is super knowledgeable and helped immensely with various decisions that we had to make. The project was done on time and within budget and we couldn't be happier. **★★★★★ — Corey Goldblum, March 2017** > John and his team are top notch. We hired them for an extensive project to redo our backyard. They completed the work on schedule and budget and the results are truly fantastic! We love our new backyard and the stone fireplace and patio he created is beautiful and very functional. **★★★★★ — Gail Dowling, March 2017** > We bought a beautiful home that was 90% perfect. The 10% that wasn't was the front yard and driveway as the house is on a hill and it had ugly junipers on the hill front. I wanted a way to walk to the curb to get my mail and an easier access for guests parking on the street. John Strauss Associates did a great job from start to finish. John was easy to work with in the design of our new terraced front yard that included a beautiful stone staircase. His crews from the demolition of the front yard which was a juniper hill to the stonework crew did an amazing job. The curb appeal of our home now is amazing. I daily receive compliments to the improvement to our home. Absolutely recommend John and his company! I have included a before and after picture so you can see our beautiful new wall and staircase! ## Selected projects - [Fireplaces](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/fireplaces-pj-vj~1815629) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 6 - [Patios & Decks](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/patios-and-decks-pj-vj~1815646) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 7 - [Landscape & Irrigation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/landscape-and-irrigation-pj-vj~1816052) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 11 - [Sunrooms](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/sunrooms-pj-vj~1815652) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 2 - [Pools & Water Features](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/pools-and-water-features-pj-vj~1816040) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 13 - [Driveway Projects](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/driveway-projects-pj-vj~1815616) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 8 - [Outdoor Kitchens](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/outdoor-kitchens-pj-vj~1815638) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 2 - [Fencing Projects](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/fencing-projects-pj-vj~1815608) - Location: Atlanta, GA - Photos: 12 [See all 8 projects](https://www.houzz.com/professionals/landscape-architects-and-landscape-designers/john-strauss-associates-pfvwus-pf~1006646333) ## Ideabooks - [2025 Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/181907367/list/2025-renovation) — 2 ideas - [120 wicklawn](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/78416330/list/120-wicklawn) — 176 ideas - [Cole](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/151913366/list/cole) — 1 idea - [Mainsail](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/142999494/list/mainsail) — 17 ideas - [NUTTER](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/118407637/list/nutter) — 15 ideas - [lance and emily](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/82560526/list/lance-and-emily) — 5 ideas - [harvey](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/51447192/list/harvey) — 27 ideas [See all 7 ideabooks](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/users/johnstrauss) --- *Source: Houzz professional profile.
