> We moved to a condo in NW Portland from the Midwest.  We did serious downsizing but still needed to find ways to optimize the space in our condo and increase functionality.   After living in the space for a few months we created an extensive wish list of what we wanted to accomplish in our condo.  This included changing the style from traditional to contemporary while maintaining a casual, personal, and warm feel to the space.

> We chose Soderberg Design to help us with our project after reading reviews on Houzz and meeting with several other designers.  Right away we liked how Gina and Chris worked as a team.  They took each of our ideas seriously and helped us refine our wish list and bring it to reality.  They did an amazing job of combining function with design and working with our existing pieces and selections.  Their approach toward the design process was to start with the big picture to make sure the completed project would be cohesive.  They provided 3 or 4 alternatives at each stage of the process and then moved forward based on our feedback.  They introduced creative ideas and helped us better meet our objectives.  The design process was very collaborative.  The process culminated in a comprehensive set of detailed plans and specs.

> Our project included redesigning our kitchen, designing built-in cabinetry for our main living area and study, partially redesigning 2 bathrooms, selecting paint colors, furniture including some custom pieces, lighting, blinds, floor coverings, hardware, plumbing fixtures, bathroom accessories, material finishes, and placing artwork.

> Gina and Chris have many resources and they lined up a general contractor as well as some individual contractors.  They also worked well with some contractors we found on our own.  They oversaw the project to insure the work was done per the plans and specs and in a coordinated and timely manner.  When issues did arise with contractors or subs, they were very effective in resolving problems to our satisfaction.  They had excellent follow through until our project was completed.  Throughout the entire process they were attentive to detail, easy to reach, patient, totally professional, and always a pleasure to work with.  They also have an excellent support staff.  Most importantly, we are delighted with our finished space.  We give Chris and Gina our highest recommendation.

> On a tight timeline, Chris and her team at Soderberg Design were able to pull off a comprehensive and beautiful remodel of our home. Our new kitchen is a joy to cook in, complete with customized workspaces. Built in cabinets and wall units were carefully designed to fit our family's needs. Bedroom and bathroom storage functions well and looks beautiful. Every detail, including lighting, was meticulously planned. Chris made perfect use of the pieces we already owned and suggested pieces we didn't know we needed ... until they were delivered and installed.

> STOP before hiring this well-known design firm that came highly recommended yet proved to be a nightmare!  From our sectional sofa being delivered in the wrong fabric, to custom pillows that were also done in the wrong fabric, to Chris Soderberg's insistence that we use her painter, which cost $4,000.00 more than the painter we ended up using on our own, to numerous unanswered emails and a gross lack of professionalism, integrity and fairness, she has made this project a truly horrible experience.

As both an architect and designer, Chris has been able to work with us to realize our vision for this home from its bare bones and interior heart right out into the gardens and outdoor spaces. She is thoroughly professional, responsive, detail-attentive, and has exceptional skill with lighting and color.  We have admired her residential and commercial design work for years and were so pleased with her performance and accountability in our house remodel that we have retained her for the redesign of our corporate offices and modifying same for our changing commercial requirements. > I used Soderberg Design for a second time for a large project to make my New York apartment more functional (including moving a wall) and furnish it comfortably at a reasonable cost.Chris Soderberg had proven to be an outstanding designer and project manager when she handled all the interior design work on my large industrial loft in Portland so I asked her to come to New York to help with my smaller apartment in a classic prewar building. I needed more storage space and an office. The complex process has been handled extremely well by Chris and her assistants with a few trips to New York. My New York apartment couldn’t be more different from my Portland loft. Chris helped make both very attractive and functional, working closely with me to reflect my taste and needs while minimizing my stress, time, and inconvenience. I recommend Soderberg Design unqualifiably.

I love this fixture.   I absolutely love your work!

A: Thank you so much!  Unfortunately, this light fixture was ordered from a local lighting company, Lux Lighting, some time ago and they have since closed their doors.  I appreciate your interest in Soderberg Design.
