Now I want to update it (only 2 years later) to incorporate more colors and use the space differently. 1) Pool table has to stay -dh says so. 2)Would like to keep ping pong since our family uses it often 3) treadmill and elliptical needed for rehab for my daughter. Furniture can be changed/paint colors etc. If any miracle workers can figure out a nice arrangement that include seating and our tv, I would really appreciate it! I was thinking a light blue or coral added in? Also, Badger pics or some red will be in the pool area. I will attach a picture of the basement dimension in case it helps. Thanks in advance! I have been trying and trying...... A: How about moving your sofa and tv into the space where the pool table is, put the pool table and the ping pong table, in the space where the sofa and ex. equipment are now, put the exercise equipment in the space where the ping pong table is now. This way the large space will be dedicated to game room space. The way the space is now, nothing seems grounded, you're mixing your furniture with the game room equipment and it makes it feel disjointed. There's a program online called Roomsketcher, it allows you to put your room dimensions and furniture dimensions in and visually see how it will look before you move that heavy pool table. Good luck! **Q: Desperately needing help** *(in Design Dilemma)* I need recommendations for window coverings for the formal dining room. I really want curtains but I need help with the following: 1\. Hang inside under bulkhead ( like curved to follow windows ) or hang on top of bulkhead (so it would hang be straight across ) 2\. Do I go with pAttern of solid panels ?and if pattern would it compete with pattern rug? A: I would put a valance, covering all 3 windows, bring it from the ceiling just to the top of the arched window. Perhaps hang the valance from a black rod. The windows look odd because their different heights. The valance will create the illusion that they are the same height. I would also change the chandelier, it looks traditional and it doesn't match the style of your room. **Q: Kitchen/ breakfast room horrible** *(in Design Dilemma)* We bought an old fixer upper before my spouse lost his job. Now that we are financially unable to do as planned, I am trying to find a solution to my tiny kitchen with plastic counters that is separated by a "breakfast room" that is just as dingy thanks to the common floor of kitchen and breakfast. Any ideas that would not kill us financially? Notice floors. Not real brick. (Excuse the mess in the breakfast room, we were painting the sunroom)Thank you so much! A: I would consider putting a warm paint color on the walls (Sherwin Williams, Softer Tan) this will help the white cabinets to have definition, because there's no color other than the floor and the appliances; the eye is drawn towards them. Try and make the focal point your cabinets as their really pretty with the glass, put something in there that will really make a statement. Paint is affordable and you'll be surprised by what it can do for your kitchen. **Q: Need help with walls of windows** *(in Design Dilemma)* I'm not sure how/where to add curtains to this wall of windows. I would like to soften to look, but don't know at what height I should start curtains. Also, should I do drapes or some kind of swag (i like the look of a victory swag, but think it might be very expensive. Also, Is that look good for such a large expanse?). What kind of fabric/pattern should i use with the butter color walls? This Is the eating area just off my kitchen. A: I would use curtains on a rod just about 6" above the trim, running the whole length of the room; so it looks like one rod . I would stack the curtains on each side of the windows and on each side of the sliding glass door. This will help to break up the long line of the window, depending on the style of your home, I would consider going with some sort of pattern, because there is so much pattern in the windows. I would also consider putting a rug under your table, to help warm up the room visually. **Q: How do I decorate/update this!!!** *(in Design Dilemma)* What o I do with this? It's right in the dining room and visible from the entire house A: If you really like the items that you have above the brick area, I would consider bunching them closer together. The way it is now, your eye is drawn to the hearth. There is no balance. If you pull the small items together it will give them more weight visually. When your hanging your items, try to give the items meaning; as if your telling a story visually. Most of all, since it is such a focal point, do something that makes you feel good when you look at it. Good Luck! **Q: Need help with colour of my bedroom wall** *(in Design Dilemma)* I need help with which colour I should choose for my wall, I'm looking to make my bedroom very chic! Maybe mirrored nightstand? Please help me with suggestion. I am doing a makeover. A: You're bed is beautiful! I would consider a grey tone or a aqua color for the walls, both would really compliment the brown tones in your bedding; also the scale of the night stand is a little small for the bed.
