> I cannot say enough great things about Scott Simpson with Earthwise! From start to finish, he was professional, knowledgeable, and an absolute expert in his field. Scott fixed up an overgrown front bed using beautiful native plants, and it looks fantastic. He also solved a major water intrusion issue on my back screened-in porch and re-leveled two huge sections of sunken pavers in my driveway—everything looks and functions like new again.
>
> What impressed me most was not just the quality of his work (which is outstanding), but his attention to detail and true mastery of every aspect of the job. He doesn’t just “do the work”—he understands the problems at their core and delivers lasting solutions.
>
> If you’re looking for someone who is reliable, talented, and genuinely cares about the results, Scott is the one to call. I am beyond thrilled with the outcome and would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad I could help find solutions that worked. I really enjoyed working with you and would be glad to help in the future.

**★★★★★ — B Huffer, May 2020**

> I'm very grateful Earthwise showed up in a Google search. I had talked with 2 other landscaping companies and they refused to do business with me because I did not have an irrigation system installed nor did I want to have one installed. I spoke to a couple of other companies that did not "service my area".
> I told Scott right off I didn't have irrigation and he said no problem. He listened to what I had in mind and has the plant knowledge and landscaping experience to make it happen. I could not be any happier with the results. My landscaping now looks fantastic and the simple solution to my irrigation "problem", inexpensive drip lines.
> Scott was very easy to work with, he explained the entire process up front and gave me plenty of opportunity to ask questions. I had a fairly small job but he kept me informed step by step. Once everything was complete he left me with detailed instructions on how/when to care for my plants.
> Scott is well educated and professional. In my opinion he knows how to properly run a business. Earthwise is exactly what I was looking for when I started the process of looking to update my landscaping. I would highly recommend this company and would definitely use him again.

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> Thank you very much! I enjoyed working with you as well. I'm glad we were able to figure out a solution that works for you. Make sure keep me posted on how things are doing. I'm always here for any questions. Thanks again!

> Scott has done a tremendous job on our front and back yard. He listened carefully to what we wanted and came up with a detailed plan. We met, and he made several adjustments as we talked further. The actual installation was quick and efficient. Scott hired a great crew, and they did a lovely job. We are very happy with our new bird-friendly, low-water yard, it is full of flowers and shrubs with a small herb garden and a dwarf mulberry!

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> Thank you for the kind words. I really enjoyed working with you and Jim.

**★★★★★ — Jessica Durning, Sept. 2019**

> We would highly recommend Earthwise and Scott. From the very first contact through our followup, we have consistently been impressed with the final product (our beautiful yard!) and the continued customer service.
>
> Soon after purchasing our home in 2017 we realized that we needed to change the landscape around the entire property. This was a huge project as we had a small man made pond that would need to be removed, tons of plants that would need to be removed because they were overgrown or neglected or both and some type of design that would match the style of the house.
>
> Scott did a fantastic job of walking us through the entire process. When we first started we had no idea what we wanted (other then we wanted something different) and his questions and the materials he provided really helped us figure out what we wanted and what we liked. After spending time with us and asking those questions, providing photos for us to rate and review of different plants, trees and bushes, Scott presented us with a master plan for our property. It was beautiful and included all of the things that were important to us. He spent time going over the plan and explaining why he designed it that way and why certain plants were certain places (privacy, sunlight, etc).
>
> After selecting the final scope of the project, Scott and his team arrived and went to work. Remember the pond? Well, it was WAY more involved then any of us ever expected but Scott and his team never gave up, never complained and worked harder then expected to remove that thing. (I don't know if Scott or his crew will ever forget that pond. . . . .)
>
> Every day the team was here working, they WORKED hard. They were always friendly, focused on their task and made sure the details were taken care of. Scott communicated on a regular basis where we were in the project, estimated time left, updated me on schedule and budget items. The budget did increase during the project because my husband and I decided to add some additional items, which Scott incorporated and priced very reasonably.
>
> The finished product was better than we had imagined and followed the design plan perfectly. The project was completed in late 2018 and we are now about 10 months post project. Scott has been out twice to follow up. The first visit was part of the original project where he comes back a certain amount of time later to check on things, remind you of some things (we needed a lot of reminders) and help with any problems or concerns you have. He came out an additional time because we thought there was a problem with one of the light pieces and he was very quick to respond and purchase the replacement part for us. He even came out to install it (which was more then we expected!).
>
> We would highly recommend Earthwise for any of your landscape needs. Scott will walk through the process with you and make sure that your vision becomes a reality.

**★★★★★ — Lawrence Snee, Sept. 2018**

> It has been a pleasure and a learning experience to work with Scott Simpson and Earthwise Horticultural Services. Scott is a true professional. He is well educated with an MS from the University of Florida. He knows his Florida plants very well and is not afraid to suggest unique varieties. He understands the pant's water needs well. He also understands the nuances of drainage issues in very closely spaced homes. I have enjoyed Scott as an individual and have benefited from his knowledge. Scott completely re-landscaped our 20-year old landscape after we moved here from the West. We had no understanding of Florida landscapes, but we knew that we needed a change. Scott walked us through several options. Because we needed to receive the approval of our HOA, we were careful. He made sure that we had all the plans necessary to move forward.
>
> Scott did two projects for us. I am pleased with the results of both. He also follows up to make sure that everything is going well.
>
> He has my total endorsement.

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> Thank you very much! It was great to work with you too. Please stay in touch with any questions. Thanks again!!

**★★★★★ — Danielle Honour, May 2018**

> We recently hired Earthwise to retrofit/re-design the landscape in our backyard. We were tired of battling St. Augustine grass and were looking for something more low maintenance and dog-friendly. The end product turned out beautiful and we are extremely happy with the overall result. Scott was very professional, knowledgeable & responsive, listened carefully to our input and worked the existing backyard features we wanted to keep into his design. Scott oversaw every aspect of the project, from planning all the way through installation. We have a small backyard in downtown Orlando and it now feel like we have a little oasis in our urban neighborhood.

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> Thank you for the kind words! You were both great to work with!!

**★★★★★ — Eugene Beauvais, April 2018**

> Scott totally redesigned and re-landscaped our yard except for a handful of trees we wanted saved. He updated our irrigation system and also creatively resolved a significant drainage issue that was at the top of our "must fix list." This was a wholly positive experience. From our initial meeting with Scott through the last minute touches, he listened to our thoughts and brought his expertise to the problems. The results are beautiful with lower maintenance. Scott is a true professional who takes great pride in his work. He met every project milestone and any budget deviations were of my doing. I highly regard and recommend Scott!

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> Thank you Gene! It really was a pleasure to work with you!! We had a section of the project that was very challenging (pictured below) and required a lot of collaboration between the two of us. There was a confluence of several drains and runoff that had to be directed away from the patio. I enjoy working with my clients by sharing ideas and developing solutions together. We made a great team!

**★★★★★ — Mark Bevan, Jan. 2017**

> Scott recently completely re-landscaped my front and rear yards. Working with him was an excellent experience for many reasons. He is an expert in plants and is able to select varieties that will thrive in your particular location/environment. He listened thoroughly to our needs and came up with a design that that fitted exactly what we wanted. The Earthwise team are very professional and hard working and Scott personally oversaw every aspect of the design implementation. Scott also laid irrigation and spot lights meaning we had a one stop shop for all of our needs. The end result is a garden that is a pleasure to look at and sit in. We are so happy with the work they did!

**★★★★★ — Travis, Dec. 2016**

> The Earthwise helped totally renovate my yard to be amazing! After meeting (or trying to meet) multiple landscape designers Scott demonstrated a true professionalism and PASSION that was far beyond any others. Choosing Earthwise was easy. That decision paid off in spades throughout the entire process.
>
> During the planning phase, Scott did a great job listening to the end goals and implementing our thoughts into the design, but used his own knowledge and creativity to steer us into a great design that blew us away.
>
> Our project was a total renovation of a large back yard and freshening up the front yard for a wedding event. Scott normally doesn't have to work with deadlines but he took the challenge and ensured the goal line was achieved.
>
> In the end, the project (and the wedding) were a total success. We received many comments from the wedding vendors that we could rent out our place as a wedding venue. That just speaks to how well the whole yard looked!
>
> Scott and the Earthwise team were a pleasure and I'd recommend them to anyone taking on a small project to a large project such as mine.

**★ — derdivanisankerholz, Sept. 2016**

> We hired based on similar reviews. Ended up being a completely negative experience: massive plant die off, wrong plants wrong place for our soil, instructions for what was wanted/needed not followed, an unwillingness to find a solution without additional expense. Nice guy but didn't make it right for us. We have been making changes and repairs ourselves...

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> My first negative review in 8 years of business. I did everything I could to help this client before, during, and after the project. I returned to the property multiple times after the project to answer questions, make irrigation adjustments, replace plants, and drop off additional supply. I also fielded several phone calls and scores of emails patiently, professionally, and with helpful information.
> In short, it comes down to the fact that during the planning phase they did not accept two of my key recommendations and after they job they did not follow my instructions. I fully empathize with their concerns and went to great lengths to help make it right. But I find it odd that they did not mention two key factors in this project.
> First they live in an area that has a significant deer population. We discussed this topic in detail and I suggested a wide variety of plants well known for deer resistance from which they selected the plants themselves. I even provided copies of the resources I used. In the end they selected many plants that had good deer resistance, but not optimal. I pointed this out, but the clients elected to ‘give it a go’ and declined to accept my top recommendations.
> Second, they live in a development that had fill dirt brought in during construction. It is nonnative clay soil. This type of soil holds water creating an extremely wet muck situation. I was aware of this and recommended plant material well adapted to wet soils. But, the irrigation system was set up as if they had typical Florida sand. The system was absolutely flooding the area for the new plants. The plants I recommended can handle wet soil, but not constant flood conditions. I brought this up, and recommended a simple conversion for the irrigation system that would alleviate this issue. Again the client declined to accept the recommendation due to the added expense which was minimal compared to the size of the job. I even went ahead and converted a small portion at no charge the flooding was so bad.
> I did have a strategy to overcome both of these situations. The deer started to sample the plants which raised concern. I was on the spot with a low/no cost option to overcome this; which they declined. I also calibrated and set the irrigation zone for minimal application; which shortly after I left was put right back to where it was before. In the end, it came out that they were taking advice from the lawn service over mine.
> In truth, I almost declined to do this job because these folks did not follow these two key recommendations. I don't like to participate in projects that have a diminished chance of success due to poor decision making. I find it strange that someone would hire a qualified service provider to assist with problem solving and then refuse to follow the recommendations. It’s like going to the doctor and being diagnosed with high blood pressure, having the doctor recommend a detailed course of action, refusing to follow those instructions, and then blaming the doctor that your blood pressure did not get better.
> One more stifling aspect was that from the start, I was working with Mrs. Ankerholz during the in depth consultation phase through to planning and plan presentation. Mr. Ankerholz was only lightly involved in these phases. After the project began and after it was finished, he stepped in after the fact and began to raise concerns that had been previously discussed and agreed upon with Mrs. Ankerholz. I got the impression there was a communication disconnect between the two. I patiently took the time to walk through every question he had, returning to the property multiple times over a two-month period after the job to spend time going over everything. But in the end Mr. Ankerholz kept insisting on service and replacements outside of our agreement as well as replacements that were simply not necessary. If they had followed my straight forward instructions they would not be having a negative result.
> If you are reading this I want to thank you for taking the time to do so. I am a small niche service provider and specialize in what I do. I make every effort to build strong lines of communication and genuinely listen to my clients. I have many references available both professional and private. I think that the level of detail I have given my reply to this review also gives you a sense of just how much I care about my work and your project. Thank you.

> After researching numerous landscape services for the past few years in my local area of Central Florida, I finally found a real landscape service company with proven results.
> My backyard was nothing but sand, weeds and pasture grass.
> I contacted Scott Simpson, MSc of Earthwise Horticultural Services. We surveyed my backyard and he listened to my needs of wanting a backyard I could really enjoy with minimal maintenance, watering and being careful of not using harsh chemicals, which would affect our water supply and environment..
> Scott took me step-by-step along the process and procedure of producing a backyard I could take care of with minimal care. We were both conscientious of using native plants and grasses that will take the hot heat and drought of summers and the sometimes freezing temperatures of Central Florida.
> Scott provided an architectural rendering of my property's landscape to let me know where the type of plants, grasses and soft-scapes would be placed--taking into consideration of the sun's exposure. I now have beautiful back yard I can enjoy plus now I'm seeing so many birds and butterflies I haven't seen in awhile.
> Scott Simpson and his company, Earthwise Horticultural Services, is the very best landscape company--always professional, always on time and meeting deadlines, and always letting me know the process along the way. Scott has a great knowledge of plants and the environment--also great insight with creating an architectural interest in the landscape.. He was also considerate of my budget and was able to use my existing plants. GREAT COMPANY.

> Redesign of front yard following septic drain field replacement. Goal was to minimize use of sod and to use attractive, drought tolerant plants with shallow roots to avoid future septic troubles.
>
> I knew Scott from previous Spring clean ups/mulching of my yard - proper pruning of plants, care and detail work as if was his own property.
>
> From start to finish it was a pleasure to work with Scott on the redesign of the front yard. During the planning phase I showed Scott pictures of landscape elements I liked, and he produced a beautiful design that was better than I could have imagined. All within the budget we discussed. To top it off, the actual install of the landscaping is more than I had expected - it is gorgeous and I smile every time I see or think about my front yard

**Comment from Earthwise Horticultural Services:**

> Thank you!! The best part of our work is knowing our clients will enjoy the results. Thanks again for your kind words.

  - Description: After years of dealing with an overgrown landscape and struggling lawn, our clients requested a landscape design and plan that would ensure long term success. As with any project, a holistic approach was needed to cover all the aspects that would ensure the success of the new St. Augustine lawn, as well as the health of the new plants and shrubs. First we worked to clear the area of old plants and shrubs, then worked the grade to facilitate drainage towards the back. We installed fresh shrubs an…

  - Description: After a brief walkthrough at our initial meeting, it became clear that our client needed landscape drainage help. A common issue in Winter Park, landscape drainage has become an integral part of just about every project we do. As a solution we were able to contour the side yard in a way that allowed rainwater to be directed away from the structure so that it can percolate into the soil as well as flow into an existing below ground system. We then used gravel and stone to ensure runoff and water…
