**★★★★★ — Vision Interiors, June 2023**

> Pam's experience and portfolio speak for themselves! This woman is talented, creative and a blast to work with! Pam and I have partnered on several projects and when I am booked I am happy to refer her to any clients I can't take on. She has a great work ethic and is very involved in the design community. She's currently serving as the President of ASID's Orange County Chapter. I highly recommend her!

**★ — Charlie Gelman, May 2022**

> Things started off very nicely with Pam. She came through for us when we were in a rush to pick colors to paint our new house, and she gave great feedback on our planned new wood flooring. We were happy also that was able to do hourly rates rather than a fixed (and expense) rate per room.
>
> However, she also offered to help with selecting and ordering furniture. We'd picked out a bunch of things from RH which we liked, but the price was somewhat high. Pam said she could get us equivalent things (often from the same manufactures as in the case of lights) but at a somewhat lower price.
>
> We did take Pam's offer on these furnishings, and this is where we had a lot of problems.
>
> Search and Order Fees:
> Pam searched for products we wanted and shared them with us. In general she charged us 0.5 hours per product (she told us this was less time than she actually spent). While this make sense of large purchase items - on smaller things like a $400 bowl - any back and forth discussion on whether we liked her suggestions was very expensive - and in the end we should have just gotten the $400 bowl rather than trying to find a $200 bowl and paying for an hour or 2 of her time.
>
> Secondly - when we'd picked out and confirmed items - we kept getting bills unexpectedly - for time spent physically placing the orders. Again this was roughly 0.5 hours minimum per item.
>
> Item Quality
> We also had a lot of issues with product quality. The lighting and electronics especially had problems. We ordered 3 sets of lights from her and 2 sets of fans. Our kitchen lights hung crooked and had dents in the glass. Pam agreed to take dining lights back - but charged us a $400 restocking fee for these ($135/light). The lightbulbs in our dining lights kept going out. Our 2 fans both stopped working. Each time she blamed our electrician and questioned whether they had a license. However, the electrician clearly showed us why the lights were tilted and that there wasn't an issue in hanging them. Meanwhile the fans both had problems and while they were under a warranty Pam said we had to return the whole fan to her to get service on them. The cost of uninstalling the fan and reinstalling new fans was already the whole cost of the fans! But Pam wouldn't give us the information we needed to reach out to the manufacturer directly - as she has a policy - "I don't share invoices with customers". And we needed the invoice to talk to the manufacturer.
>
> Pam did do a nice job with our living room light, and she did do a nice job with our bathroom vanity order.
>
> Wrong Size Bed Frame
> The biggest issue we had is that Pam ordered the wrong side bed frame for us. She confirmed with us via email, our invoice, and another time on the phone that it was a King size bed and not a California King Size bed. And then we received a California King size bed. 6 months later - this has not been resolved. Disclaimer: Pam states that we ordered a Cal King Size Bed.

> Pam was a great help in giving me an overall renovation plan to update our home. She has a depth of knowledge plus a passion for home designs whether it's a new or update to an existing home.
>
> We spent dedicated time talking and sharing ideas and creating a punch list of items room by room. Then we spent hours on the phone talking, sharing colors, fabrics, and more as I worked through each room of the house. Her guidance and knowledge of how to update rooms without 'starting from scratch' helps your remodeling dollars go further. It's been over a year now and I am still going strong with her master plan!

**Comment from Pazzam Designs:**

> Karen it has been so wonderful designing your home with you as we create a strategic plan of action in order for you to remodel and design your home in stages that best suits you and your family! The progress of your home design is developing beautifully!

**★★★★★ — Margaret VanEck, Jan. 2021**

> Pam Barthold assisted us in selecting and installing new pantry and storage cabinets in our laundry room. She is an excellent listener and asked significant questions so that she would be able to develop a design that would meet our specific needs. Pam was especially good about understanding the space constraints of the area and planning the design to maximize storage capacity. She was knowledgeable regarding the vendors that would be most appropriate for our job and that would complement the design esthetic of the space. Pam was accessible for questions during the process. It was a pleasure to work with Pam and we would consider her for any future design and remodeling projects.

**★★★★★ — Gail Reynolds, Nov. 2020**

> I interviewed several designers and hired Pam from Pazzam designs because of her professionalism and creativity and I am so happy I did! She transformed our home into a beautiful coastal elegant place for my family and I to enjoy for years! It was so easy and fun working with Pam as she made the process a dream!

**★★★★★ — DIANE BECERRA, Nov. 2019**

> It was my good fortune to be paired with Pam of Pazzam Designs through the Houzz website. Pam helped me put together a guest bedroom by adding a few pieces of furniture, wall art, texture and color. What blew me away was how Pam picked up on my style and added that little bit of refinement that I needed. She's a professional. She works in timely fashion and guided me through the entire project. I will most definitely call Pam again when I am ready to tackle my next project.

**★★★★★ — Cindy Wolfe, Nov. 2019**

> it was so great being able to utilize Pam's services from across the country. She provided a detailed drawing for my contractor that was perfect. We face timed and she was able to completely understand my goals and vision and provided a perfect rendering. We love the dramatic effect her designs provided! Oh and she was super quick with the turnaround of our drawings. Loved that!!

**Comment from Pazzam Designs:**

> Cindy It was so wonderful designing your new home in Philadelphia from LA through facetime! I loved redesigning your 2 story fireplace and accentuating your fabulous expansive 2 story living room with gorgeous detail molding! It truly raised the aesthetic value of your home!

**★★★★★ — Lorraine Crawford, Sept. 2018**

> Creativity, Class and Resourcefulness! I’ve worked with Pam to finetune design plans for our bathroom and Kitchen, and always found that her knack for choosing color, materials and suggesting stylish creative elements is spot on. I am also always impressed by the decorating she has done for spectacular design houses in in Newport Beach and Huntington Harbor. Pam Barthold, Pazzam Designs, is so easy to work with – and fun!

**★★★★★ — Karen Bush, Sept. 2018**

> I have known Pam for many years. She is extremely talented, creative, and professional. She listens intently to understand others, asks appropriate questions, and speaks directly. She works hard to solve her clients' needs, both on time and within budget. I have seen her work over the years, and I know she works tirelessly to please. Her ability to see an end result while it is still in concept, and then make it become a reality, is amazing. You will not be disappointed with Pam! Besides being so talented, Pam is a lot of fun!

**★★★★★ — Joanne Fernbach, Jan. 2018**

> I will begin by saying that I saw several of Pam's creations at a 'design house' and was really impressed with her imaginative display. I asked her to come to my house and do something similar for my Christmas decor. The room is a small entry bathroom with an oversized glass-enclosed shower. She looked at it, asked some questions about what I usually did for Christmas, asked about colors and other items that would influence her design. She asked what my budget was and we agreed on a limit. She came back at the day we set and did the 'install', which involved about 3 hours...I peeked occasionally and was thrilled with the potential! The final product was beyond my expectations and through the holidays guests (male and female, young and old) came out of that room as thrilled as if they had seen Santa for the first time!

**Comment from Pazzam Designs:**

> Thank you Joanne for trusting me to go above and beyond creatively in your beautiful home! It was so fun and easy to work with you to create a sophisticated yet whimsical Holiday Red & Gold powder room for all your guests to take delight in! I cherished the install day when we had so much fun transforming your bath!

**★★★★★ — Kelly Haynes, Nov. 2017**

> My husband and I are so excited that we had Pam take a look at our home and give us ideas about what we could do with our kitchen, living room, and extra living space. She was timely, professional, and her knowledge of architectural styles helped us make the best decision for our taste and budget. We would highly recommend her for any interior and/or exterior project!

**Comment from Pazzam Designs:**

> kellly, it was such a pleasure and so much fun working with you and your husband to redesign your floor plan to create a more open and better flowing space for you and your family! It was such an easy process working with you as it made it effortless!
> Thank you,
> Pam

**★★★★★ — Lani Martin, Oct. 2017**

> Pam is so creative and caring! She listens carefully and searches thoroughly for ways to create beauty in one's home. She is a pleasure to work with!

**Comment from Pazzam Designs:**

> Lani,
> Thank you for your kind words, I love designing your home especially creating your red bath!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Tell us: Do you send thank you gifts to clients?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Do you send thank you gifts to clients over the holidays? If so, what do you send? Has it been received well?
Tell us! (photos encouraged)

A: Pazzam Designs believes all our clients deserves the best hence we always send them a little something from Tiffanys as everyone loves to receive that little blue box!

**Q: Front door opens directly to living room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have an old craftsman with a front door in the middle of the room, flanked by windows on either side. Original set up was similar to first photo, with couch directly in front of door to create a sort of entry/pit stop (this was the staged photo from when we bought it, not our furniture). We copied this idea, but it made the whole room feel pretty cramped. We just rearranged and moved the couch under the window to skiers right, which opened up the room significantly. But now the front door literally opens right into the room and I can't figure out a way to define the entry from the main room. Another issue is that this room has the front door entry as well as three other doors leading off in each corner (to dining room, hall/bathroom/kitchen, and to back of house/stairwell/TV room). Add in the fireplace/mantel, and it seems awkward. I like the current set up with two chairs flanking the fireplace and couch under the window, but the space in between seems too large. A coffee table in front of the couch would potentially hinder the walkway from front door to stairwell, and a rug that extends to the couch might do the same (my husband thinks so at least). I've thought about putting a chair perpendicular to the couch in the corner where we have coat rack, to define the space, but then you would go from front door and be forced straight to living room. Right now that's what the ottoman's purpose is, to break it up a little (I know, it's funny perched on the corner of the rug). BTW - the rug worked well with the old setup, now it's a funny size. This is our main entry, hence the bench and boot tray, jacket hooks in corner, and sofa table on other side of windows for keys/mail...

Anyone have any suggestions on furniture arrangement? We are using a hodge podge of furniture now (forgive the mismatched colors/prints), with no plans to buy anything new. We have some extra classic wingback chairs to work with, but they seem to have too high of a profile for the entry, and we like the Eames chair near the mantel...

Thanks for any ideas!

A: As you the homeowner needs to feel the room let's look at another way! Let's spin the design layout everyone spoke of so the couch is perpendicular to the right side of the fireplace creating a hallway to the other room and the back of couch is facing the wall with the painting eliminating any sneak attacks. You will enjoy all windows and fireplace. Then position both chairs directly opposite the couch with the green closest to the fireplace as it is heavier in feel. The beautiful black one has a pretty shape it spins and can stand alone. Place the 2 wood nesting tables in front of couch. Use the tuff next to green chair with a tray as an end table. Put the Blue bench underneath the window where the couch was. When you have guests they can sit there and still feel part of the party. This should open up things when you walk in.

**Q: Foyer lighting question** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello, any advice on updating on foyer is greatly appreciated. Keep in mind the wall color is subject to change more than likely a light tan. We are changing in the railing as well and replacing the wood spindles with wrought iron and staining the hand wells as well with a dark stain. I've attached pictures of what it looks like now along with a few different chandelier/ pendants I liked, for the hallway lights should I go with black as well or....?
Thank you!!

A: You r replacing the existing chandelier with the same style and size go bold, this space can handle it go larger in an open brass. Paint door wall different color then others to expand this tight space, what's your fav? Use that in a dark shade the others in tan. Add large area rug, one by door to small. Create drama at credenza too much going on with little objects. Replace with larger mirror flanked with sconces. Love iron rail concept here is were u should keep it simple since u have a lot of stairs.

**Q: Something is off with this kitchen renovation... HELP!?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

So we gutted our kitchen about a year and a half ago when we bought this new house. I went with antique white cabinets with a mocha glaze. The island is the same cabinets and the counter top is laminate (had a $5000 budget for the whole kitchen). The desk and bar area were oak cabinets which we painted black. The floor is bamboo. The backsplash is faux tin. I do love this kitchen but something seems off. I think it might be the paint color. The color is a greenish grey which I like but I'm thinking it's too cool for the warm cabinets. Any suggestions are welcome! Backsplash was super cheap and could also be changed. Thoughts?

A: When one adds up the cost of paint and time for "covering up" the tin u would be a missed to stop and do what u really want. The secret is to find tile deals in your neighborhood. the area is so small it won't take much tile. Look at ur local habitat for humanity store, tile stores discount pile or online discount, it will be cheaper then paint and a fun project for ur hubby & u!

**Q: Want to update my never been finished living /dining room.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Need to work with the sofa and striped chair and pillows. Valances are also the red. No money to change them right now, want to add another color or two (gray/Greek), paint and new rug. Mp ain't colors? Can paint most of the cherry furniture, painted a side table in old white(Annie Sloan) and distressed it.

A: Carolins it already feels more modern! The larger pillow and rug helped rescale the sofa to a more modern feel. Replacing the coffee table will kick it up a notch.

**Q: Still not quite right** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have painted, and repainted, the Hardie Shake siding in the center front section of our house but it is still not quite right. The main body of the house is SW Gray Area and the trim is SW Pure White. The brick has a cool gray sand face mixed with light brown. The garage doors were pre-painted a color very close to SW Porpoise.

Our first paint try was SW Adaptive shade but it was too dark and too green (pic here). Second try is SW Intellectual Gray.

Oh, and there will be white porch posts and stair railings, gable brackets and keys in the big round window eventually.

question is what color to paint that center section and what color for the front door?

A: if paint is your only design medium then I would paint the entire upper portion the same color, the lightest version of what u have, and the entire first floor section a dark value as close as u can stand to the garage and bricks. This will calm the box compartment feel that is occurring presently, ground the home to the garage and earth. I believe u r correct once u put ur rails and deco items in such as a bench or large urn on front porch that will create a focal point.
