We appreciate her ideas.  The installation of our new shower was done quickly enough so that my wife will be able to use it as soon as she gets her knee operation.  Sébastien and Danny completed the install in a professional manner and we are thrilled with the look.  The day after completion, we had a leak from our ceiling below the bathroom.  We called and Jeff came within 30 minutes.  With his miniature camera, he determined that the problem was not from the installation bur from the other bathroom. He then proceeded to fix that leak by cutting a pipe that was too long and then re-caulking... even though his company had nothing to do with that bathroom.  Above and beyond the call of duty:  "We are all about our client's satisfaction" said Jeff, refusing my offer to pay for his work.

A: Hi Nadine,
The countertop is Alaska white (Ganite) and the backsplash is called JL-8251-312 (taupe) 3x12 glass subway tile from Sarana.

A: looks like a contractor from kijiji , we suggest you always check better business bureau before any renovation . Tile job is awful , plumbing and tub all need to go now .Trust the pros

I know something's bugging me. What isn't working here? Is it the paint? The white next to the beige? The ORB? All criticism welcomed. I can't change the tile at all and the shower doors have ORB which has to stay. Help me change it up. Thanks.

**Q: Durable, affordable, beautiful flooring tips** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have 3 kids under 7 and are getting a dog. We need to redo the floors on our 1st floor fixer-upper in a higher end neighborhood but have many other projects and don't want to break the bank.  On any given day, salt, sand, wood chips, mud or water are trailed in. Needs to be easy to maintain. We may sell in 5 years or so. Any thoughts would be welcome!

A: we also recommend porcelain tiles , ceramic tiles are usually used on walls only because they are less durable then porcelain so the later choice is probably the best in your current situation  , for resale value try to stay in the neutral color spectrum , for heat , under flooring heat cable can be installed but keep in mind it will not heat the entire room it will only provide comfort under foot . good luck in your renovation !

**Q: Vent hood different color from range** *(in Kitchens)*

Hi all,
I'm planning a white and walnut kitchen with SS appliances. it will be open to dr and lr. However I'm not a great big fan of a ss chimney vent dominating a wall. Is it crazy to flirt with the idea of a white chimney hood to more or less blend in with a white backsplash while using a ss slide in range? I'm not talking of a fancy wood hood to match cabinets either. There will be no wall cabinets on either side but there will be a window on one side approximately 20" away.

A: you could also cover your hood with the same finish as your countertop in a slim slab , in a modern kitchen a simple rectangular hood box would look amazing covered in marble as an example.

**Q: Another backsplash dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My style is minimalist modern/contemporary. 
Countertops are plain white Quartz. 
Backsplash is going
•All the way up till under the upper cabinets on the range wall. 
•Up till the widow ledge on the sink wall. 
Planning on adding three ledge shelves starting at the same level as the window on the empty wall space. 

Wandering if I should go with 
\_A marble backsplash 1.5"x6". Or another shape. 
My fear is that the white in the marble might make the countertop and cabinets look yellow. 
\_A regular ceramic tile? Shape?
\_A solid surface?
Or do you have other suggestion. 
FYI: not a fan of glass tile.

A: Going for a minimalist look we would proposed you check into subway tiles in a bigger format , maybe a glossy white making sure it is the same white as your cabinet . Marble is a great choice but so many variance in the colors and texture can confuse the eyes when against white cabinet and make them look either greyish or yellowish depending on the marble, unless you go for a totally different color of marble like grey or black would look sharp too . hope that helps good luck !
