## Community Q&A

**Q: Rug? Pattern, solid, dark, light?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We removed carpet from the living room and extended the hardwoods from the kitchen and foyer. My 2.5 yr old who runs everywhere is slipping on the new hardwood plus I want an area he can play. I would like an area rug for in front of the couch and a runner behind the couch but I'm getting conflicting suggestions from family members. Some say dark, some say light, some say pattern, no pattern, now I'm all confused!

Any suggestions?

A: Check out Dash and Albert Roma wool rug. Look at the pictures with furniture, it shows how great the rug can frame your furniture without being too much.

**Q: Need help with my family room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Help !!! Would like to get rid of the comfy, but dumpy couch. Want to brighten and update.

A: This room can be easily changed! A new sofa in a tighter form with some nail head accents will update the look. The rug needs to be larger. Pull the rug and sofa forward and a long sofa table with lamps behind. Your slider valance can be removed or updated with a box valance in updated cool greys with maybe a cranberry accent. The large chair could be moved forward and on the opposite side of the sofa, or could be replaced with a swivel. Would you consider painting the coffee table? It would also be great to replace it with a large round one.

**Q: Living room...missing something ??** *(in Design Dilemma)*

How should I connect this small space ?? So the living area here is longer than it is wide....but are there any ideas to make this space cozier ???? A thought a mirror above the console maybe. Thank you !!! S.O.S

A: It is a challenge, but the couch, chair and rug look good, just need to tie it all together. A large mirror over the console is a good idea.
