### Reviews

> Creative Soapstone supplied and installed our Kitchen and Laundry room Soapstone. They are honest and enjoyable to do business with. They have a reputation for being the Absolute Finest Soapstone supplier and installer in the state of Florida and it is 100 % true. As a retired Jeweler with a Very Critical eye I will tell you that they greatly exceeded my expectations of perfection in quality of materials and installation and customer service.

> We are very pleased with our beautiful new soapstone countertops! Joshua was very helpful when we met to select our soapstone slabs. He arrived at our home in Naples within one week to make the template and returned to install our countertops within 5 days! The grain in the soapstone is amazing and I love both phases (light, without oil, and dark with oil). This is a big step up for us and we were nervous about it, but we absolutely love it!

> I asked for some advice on my existing stone that I bought from another supplier. Joshua was kind enough to discuss the issues I was having and give me some good direction to rectify them. Wish I had purchased from someone as knowledgeable and helpful as Creative Soapstone.

> Josh did an awesome job with our countertops! From the first visit to pick out the slab to the fabrication everything was handled with the utmost professionalism. He is truly a craftsman. I would highly recommend and certainly use them again. The counters are gorgeous. Thank you Josh and Mimi!!

**Comment from Creative Soapstone LLC:**

> Thank you so much, John, for your kind review! We greatly appreciate it!!!

> Creative Soapstone did a wonderful job installing soapstone countertops in our kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom. Joshua was wonderful to work with as were Mimi and Elisee. They were friendly, accommodating, and always provided quality service. They were easy to contact, and always timely and kind. We recommend them for the high quality of their product and the professionalism of their service.

**★★★★★ — Kathleen Johnson, Dec. 2018**

> Recently had soapstone countertops fabricated and installed by Creative Soapstone. Extremely glad we did! The whole process from start to finish was what anyone could hope would happen when getting countertops!!! Mimi and Joshua were very cordial, knowledgeable and professional. They provided great help while we browsed through their inventory, and set aside our choices.
> When we were ready for the templates, Joshua was right on schedule, and we live about 100 miles from their shop!
> The fabrication was made and delivered right on schedule, and the installation flawlessly completed by Joshua and his assistant, Elizee (I’m sure I spelled that wrong).
> Thank you all for a great experience!!!
> If you want a Soapstone countertop, this is DEFINITELY the place to get it!

**★★★★★ — Cynthia L., Aug. 2018**

> Joshua and Mimi completed an excellent installation of our soapstone counters, window sills and bench. They were very professional and provided wonderful guidance into the world of soapstone. Creative Soapstone held the stone for several months until our remodel was ready. Then they quickly delivered and installed the stone. An all around A+ job!

> We love our soapstone countertops with the runnels (for draining dishes and food). Mimi and Joshua were great to work with start to finish. Mimi answered my many emails with all my questions quickly and professionally. And I never felt like I was bothering her. Joshua took several videos of the slabs for us to choose from since we couldn't visit their showroom. They were very flexible with scheduling around our cabinet installation. Joshua and his team installed the soapstone at our home in one day! You can't go wrong choosing Creative Soapstone, LLC.

**★★★★★ — Jen Bieber, March 2018**

> Joshua at Creative Soapstone is extraordinary! He responded immediately to my query email and took time out of his day to talk with me about my soapstone counter project. He is one of the few professionals in the country who truly knows soapstone. If you are doing soapstone research, look no further than Joshua. You won't find anyone who knows more or cares more.

**★★★★★ — James Rodgers, Jan. 2018**

> Exceptional craftsmanship and service. Our soapstone countertops are spectacular. The built-in drain boards are great additions. The looks is timeless while fitting beautiful in a contemporary kitchen. A true family business, Mimi & Joshua and crew will leave you satisfied. SO much prettier and elegant than the boring granite that you see everywhere or the trendy stone that will be out of fashion in ten years.

**★★★★★ — Colette Gregory, Jan. 2018**

> Mimi & Joshua have a true passion for soapstone! From our initial contact on the phone, Mimi was articulate and patient answering our many questions. We drove 3 hours to Punta Gorda to see their facility, and choose our slab. Joshua and his assistant, Elisee, were true craftsmen as they did the installation. Precise. Joshua's keen eye spotted a use for the extra scrap from our slab that we never imagined! Our kitchen has come to life with this beautiful product. Trust in Creative Soapstone. They are absolutely excellent in every way. (and fine people, too!)

**★★★★★ — Ken K, Dec. 2017**

> Mimi and Joshua were great to work with. We had a hard time finding fabricators in our area who had experience working with soapstone and were glad to have found Creative Soapstone. They delivered and installed on time and the quality was top notch. I have no hesitation in recommending them for your project.

**Comment from Creative Soapstone LLC:**

> Wow!!! The kitchen looks amazing!! I can not believe how quickly you finished your project! Thank you so much for your review! It was an absolute pleasure to supply you with soapstone!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where can I find the backsplash?** *(in Photo Questions)*

This backsplash is a real eye-opener! Fun!

A: Kitchen Classics of Port Charlotte Florida was the Kitchen Vendor we worked with on this project. They completed the tile portion of this job.

**Q: How to remove/prevent smudges in wax finish on soapstone?** *(in Home Disasters)*

We had soapstone counters installed in our house 2 months ago and two coats of wax were applied after the installation. The wax is very prone to smudging and marks though and it's seemingly impossible to get these marks out of the wax. Does anyone with soapstone have any insight into this and what I might expect? I'm trying to figure out how to even out the finish or if it will just happen over time. Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Photos are attached showing what I'm experiencing.

A: Bee's wax and mineral oil are wonderful applications. Most Bee's wax products are a mixture of mineral oil and bee's wax which gives a breathable, edible patina on the stone. The waxes you want to stay away from seal the stone and create a barrier for the natural oils as they interact with the surface of the stone.

Talc content in soapstone determines if it's soapstone. A good supplier will know the approximate talc content in the quarries they use. This is subjective, but the less talc in the stone, the less like soapstone it is. Too much talc and it's too soft.

**Q: SOAPSTONE HELP - Waxing/Oiling** *(in Kitchens)*

Hi, there. I know this has been posted/answered a bunch of times but when I search I can't seem to find anything recent - maybe I am searching wrong. I have soapstone in my kitchen and while I like it in it's natural state, I am tired of the maintenance with oil and water stains. I am looking to wax/oil it and wanted a recommendation on the best product to use to get a look that isn't too wet or shiny looking and gives a more soft/matte appearance. I realize the stone will get darker but I am willing to trade that for less work. (I posted a few photos of what it looks like now for reference, I can't remember the name of the soapstone I have.) Thank you :)

A: can you send us a picture of your countertops and do you know what quarry they are from? This is Mimi- Josh's wife.

**Q: Type of soapstone** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you please tell me the type of soapstone used? It's beautiful!

A: Oiled acacia wood from Bella
Citta.

**Q: What variety of soapstone is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'm looking for something harder but with this type of veining.

A: To me it looks like Santa Rita Venata that has been oiled and then left to go natural. It's hard to tell with the lighting and the distance away from the top to be certain.

**Q: Runnels in my Soapstone Counter?** *(in Kitchens)*

Calling all stoners! Help me decide! I love the look of runnels in soapstone counters but am afraid of the possible mess! Do your runnels "gunk up"? Are they difficult to keep clean? Thanks!

A: You got it! Functional runnels, are usually pitched toward the sink, and we like to make them wide enough for you to put your finger in. We think this makes it easier to clean and the pitch speaks for itself. They should not be rough or square, as that would be hard to clean.

One more thing to note is that many people use them more on a daily for rinsing fruit or vegetables off. Set the colander right over the runnels and the water stays contained within the runnels.
I always say most people buy them for the look (at least I think that way), but they are super functional for a busy life.
