> I bought my EDC Homes townhome in 2023, and since day one it’s been a masterclass in how a builder can fail its homeowners at every level — workmanship, honesty, and ethics.
>
> Before I even closed the selling agent lied straight to my face, then played the victim when caught. I have the recordings and emails to prove it. When I confronted him, he threatened to go to the seller and have the deal canceled. That’s the level of “professionalism” representing EDC. My own realtor later posted glowing reviews of them even though he knew the nightmare I walked into.
>
> What Followed Was a Two-Year Circus
> Once the ink was dry, the problems began. Water leaked through ceilings, light fixtures, and even the alarm panel, destroying furniture and rugs. I had to blast them with a public Google review just to get anyone to show up. When they finally came, they didn’t repair — they staged a performance. They scribbled notes, made excuses, and disappeared.
>
> The promised storm door correction? I cleared my schedule, confirmed my availability, and no one ever showed. No call, no apology — just silence. They have perfected the art of the no-show and the stall.
>
> The Excuses Never End
> For two years, I’ve watched them crawl around my neighbors’ homes, inspecting and patching, over and over — all visible on my exterior cameras. Yet somehow, after all that, they still call my damage “wind-driven rain.” Please. Wind-driven rain doesn’t travel through ceiling fixtures or electrical wiring. It’s not weather. It’s bad construction.
>
> And this isn’t just me. All four homes in our row have leaks. Four out of four is not bad luck — it’s systemic failure and shoddy work that they refuse to own.
>
> Names have changed, faces have rotated — but the pattern stays the same: promise, delay, vanish. They shuffle staff and call it “a new point of contact.” What it really means is nobody wants to be responsible for the mess they built.
>
> I’m a disabled veteran who served 23 years in the U.S. Navy, and I’ve dealt with complex systems and high-stakes accountability my entire career. The lack of responsibility here is beyond unprofessional — it’s unethical. To watch a company that sells “integrity” run from its own record of negligence is infuriating.
>
> The Slogan vs. The Reality
> EDC Homes proudly claims “Built with Integrity.” In reality, they build facades that crumble, systems that fail, and excuses that never end. Integrity shouldn’t evaporate the moment the warranty clock runs out.
>
> The Bottom Line
> I still have every recording, email, photo, and video documenting this nightmare. I’m filing complaints with the Virginia Board for Contractors and the Attorney General, because homeowners shouldn’t be forced to pay out of pocket to repair a builder’s incompetence.
>
> If you’re thinking about buying an EDC home, take it from me — don’t. You’ll spend your time chasing people who no longer answer the phone while water seeps through your ceiling. They don’t build homes. They build regrets.

> My family and I try to understand that we are waiting for the Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Norfolk.
> These are the following points that EDC has failed us multiple times.
> 1st: EDC should have known the requirements since they have been established building houses in Norfolk. The issue regarding the requirement required by the city should not have happened to begin with.
> 2nd: Not willing to spend close to $2,000. Instead, they chose the cheap way to do that burdens. We spend $1,500 for us to have grass rolled.
> 3rd: Closing Timeline in extreme delay. Construction bi-weekly update they promised only lasted on May 2020.
> To answer the google review. 1st, sod placement was not offered months before closing. 2nd, we’re the one who brought up sod the idea but EDC response is that they don’t want to spend more $2,000. If that was brought up to begin with, issue would have not occurred. Lastly they don’t understand the frustrations we had because they were not in our shoes.

> I've worked closely with EDC on the construction of both spec and custom homes for years. They've grown in every aspect of the business including the contract/custom home construction as a service. With decades of experience, numerous awards, and being a forward thinking company in it's prime, choosing EDC to buy or build a home is one of the best decisions to make.

**★★★★★ — Katina Johnson, June 2020**

> EDC Homes built our home in 2017 and our dream really did become a reality! The beautiful craftmanship and finishes are gorgeous! The building process was seamless and made our experience so positive. We couldn't be happier with our new home and thank EDC for making it happen!

**★★★★★ — Virginia Beach Real Estate Team, June 2020**

> EDC stands behind their product. We very impressed with the quality of the finishes and attention to detail EDC has and we were able to customize the layout, kitchen and more. They do fully custom as well. Call them today you won't be disappointed.
