### Reviews

**★★★★★ — HU-516841921, July 2023**

> I had a very difficult project to complete in my home with replacing old damaged wood flooring that my cabinetry was built on top of with new LVP. MicMar's team of professionals did an amazing job and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. They did not finish the project until I was 100% satisfied!!! The owner personally came out to the oversee the project on several occasions to make sure everything was perfect. The office manager was accessible by her personal phone for questions a long the way as well and was also very kind and very service oriented. The demo and install team was professional and accommodating and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend using this company for your flooring needs.

**★★★★★ — HU-720242878, July 2022**

> Awesome company!! All work fairly bid compared to other companies; great knowledge/experience, meticulous work, and friendly team. Big bonus is it's a small veteran owned business!

**★★★★★ — Lauren Jones, March 2022**

> We hired MicMar to install luxury vinyl plank throughout the first floor of our new build. Out of all the bids we got, Mike seemed to be the most up-front and honest.
> Originally we wanted to go with a material from Lumber liquidators, but he suggested that we come to the showroom first and see if we saw anything we liked there instead. He had MUCH better quality product and we found a material that was just what we wanted for our home. They worked well within our budget, which we really appreciated.
> They made time to come in as soon as we closed on our home, and installation took about 5 days total, to rip up what the builders put in, prep the floor and install the new product. They called when they had small questions about details to make sure the floors were exactly how we wanted to and everyone was kind, patient and responsive.
> The work they did was excellent. Everything looks beautiful and we're incredibly happy with the final result and had a positive experience. Our floors are stunning!

**★★★★★ — David Shepard, Nov. 2019**

> Everyone at the company was highly professional. Mike Jenks, the owner, helped us pick out the flooring that we put in the entire downstairs. The demo crew did a wonderful job and the installers were fantastic. I would highly recommend this company!!

**★★★★★ — Justin Horlyk, Nov. 2019**

> Did a quick demo and install, cleaned up after each phase. There was a small issue but they addressed the issue with us with no problems!

**Comment from MicMar:**

> Thank you Justin for the kind review. It was a pleasure working with you. Please enjoy your new floors.

**★★★★★ — Linda Berg, June 2018**

> I am very happy with my experience with Micmar. They were recommended to me by my daughter, who is an interior designer. She had worked with them at her previous company and said they were the company to go with! She was right. Their customer service is excellent. They were punctual and completed the project in a timely manner. I am very happy with my new hardwood floors that were installed in my master bedroom.

**Comment from MicMar:**

> Thank you for the kind review Mrs. Berg! It was our pleasure working with you on your hardwood flooring project. I know you will enjoy it for many years to come.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Headache over red oak floors** *(in Flooring)*

We are down to the wire and really need to settle on a stain for our red oak hardwood floors. We originally wanted a medium brown, slightly on the darker side but not super dark. Our contractor uses minwax and 2 different people put stains in 2 different areas of our house, one stain was supposedly the same mixture of 50/50 jacobean and classic gray, but they look completely different! One sample everything looks darker (did they mislabel and mix with ebony in the darker photos?!) and the other is super light and at times looks almost salmon colored, which we REALLY don't want. I'm uploading pictures of the samples as well as our kitchen, which has hardwood. I'm open to suggestions and am desperate to find something that works! Please help!

A: The Jacobean over a red oak floor will tend to throw some red tones especially over boards that are very red naturally. If your mixing with the classic grey and don't want any red tones coming through I would suggest mixing it with the Espresso or even Antique Brown to darken the grey stain. These colors won't darken the open grain as much as Jacobean, Coffee or Ebony.
If you have a color you like but want it darker have them water pop the wood before staining but make sure it is completely dry before adding stain. This will help to give a more uniform appearance and will come out darker than staining without water popping.

**Q: Does anyone use Thieves Essential Oil product for hardwood floors?** *(in Cleaning Tips)*

I belong to a Moms Facebook page where many people use Thieves concentrated formula mixed with water to clean hardwood floors. I'm so confused about the water and wood combo. I do not know how to clean the floors in my house. Using a dust mop does not cut it. What do you all use for dried up food spills and other messes?? I asked the salesman where I bought my floor and the company installing them -- And they both said to use "Any wood floor Cleaner!"

Thanks for your help.

A: The best hardwood floor cleaner ever produced can also be purchased on Amazon or direct. Polycare. Comes in premixed or concentrate

**Q: Which tuffcore flooring is this? Color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Leeanne. Thank you for adding our photo to your Idea book.

**Q: Hardwood floor vs. engineered hardwood?** *(in Flooring)*

What are the positive and negatives to both. I live in Chicagoland, so I experience all seasons and all weather conditions. Extreme humidity and extreme dryness. I am looking to lay hardwood in my kitchen as well as in the foyer/dining area. Is one better than the other? Is one more resistant to damage? Is upkeep the same?

A: Todd,
Here are some distributors I purchase my Rift and Quartered materials from. Though you may have to purchase through a licensed flooring contractor.

**Q: Beautiful Floors!!** *(in Photo Questions)*

What color are these Provenza Old World floors?

A: This is the Old World Toasted Sesame. Thank you for your question
