I am very happy I selected them over the other companies we had give us an estimate. Chris’s personality and their finance options were what really sold us. They were middle of the line for price. Chris was not pushy at all. He just laid out our options and shared his knowledge of the state of my roof and how Avalon would fix it. He wrote the contract to include all new decking as he found out from climbing into our attic the roof was not up to code. As we are about to list the house, being able to finance with no payments for 12 months means that the sale of the house will pay for the roof. They even informed me they would honor their warranty for the new homeowners. The crew who actually installed our roof were beyond professional. I was most impressed that they worked into the night to complete the roof in one day! The 5 man crew were done with everything at 7ish, but were not in a hurry or anything to leave. They rolled a magnetic through my yard for a good hour after the roof was done to make sure all nails were picked up. They even blew off the patio of all the shingle dust. I am so thrilled with their work. Most shocking part of the whole thing - I got a call on a Saturday from Adam asking if he could do a walk around of my roof to make sure I was happy. We ended up calling them to get more than one roofing estimate and are so happy we did. Unlike the guy from Hansons, Avalon’s guy got up on our roof. He said he found a few soft spots that concerned him as possible trouble areas. We didn’t have any leaks, but he explained to us what soft areas could mean. He even had a portfolio of work to showcase. He was not high pressured. Simply asked when we would like to start this project and we moved forward. It took a few weeks for them to get to our roof after signing the bid. When the crew arrived they immediately got right to work. Each guy knew they had a job to do and did it. We were so impressed that they put up big sheets of plywood to protect our big windows and sliders. While the entire crew did not speak English, the crew leader was always polite and would pull us aside when something needed to be addressed. He spoke English. They ended up finding a big gaping hole under our shingles during tear off where the decking had basically designated underneath. They do absolutely wonderful work and literally flew through our roof. We are so pleased with the color we choose. They either don't communicate internally or make a lot of promises they have no intention to keep. This review isn't going to include every single issue but it will have several. Please excuse any grammar issues as I'm on my phone. > > Our job was quoted at taking under a week and almost 3 months it is not finished. We had to call numerous times due to areas of the roof not being touched, we've had to call because installers were not tearing off when they were supposed to, we've had a large bush destroyed by debri, a new baby bush run over by a wheelbarrow, large patches of grass killed because supplies were left on the lawn for extended periods of time and a lot of damage done to the surrounding area of the roof that was caused by Avalon though they don't seem interested in addressing it. A dumpster blocked our driveway for 2 weeks when we were told it would be 2 days. Another time a crew came out to tear off and install and Avalon hadnt sent out a dumpster for them to throw debri into. > > We've been apologized to countless times and passed from person to person when trying to address the issues. We were recently told by a manager that we would be compensated for the damage done to our landscaping. 3 weeks and nothing. > > The final straw was today when I checked an area that was a known leak prior to the new roof ( in a spare bedroom under construction due to water damage) and there's a considerable drip. I called and was able to speak to the "Top Manager" to discuss our constant disappointment with Avalon. His priority was questioning me about when they would be paid. I told him the manager prior to him told us we wouldn't be given a bill until 30 days from completion and that manager had agreed it wasn't done. The "Top Manager" was only interested in making it sound as though we were never going to pay him. > > I wish I could attach pictures to this review to show the numerous things that are wrong. > > It seems many people have had a great experience but sadly we cannot say the same. **Comment from Avalon Roofing and Exteriors:** > We understand the hardship of going through construction on your home and having complications during that time is disappointing. While we are usually known for our attention to detail, home improvement jobs that include demolition can have damage happen to surrounding areas of the construction site. Sometimes this is a necessity, sometimes an unfavorable outcome understood by contractor and homeowner, and sometimes damages are those that should not have occurred. While we take precautions the best we can to clear all debris from the area without causing harm to your home’s surroundings, if this happens Avalon steps up and takes care of the issues to the customers satisfaction. > > While it was reiterated that payment would be due at completion of those corrections, it was not our General Managers desire to have that be your main takeaway from yesterday's conversation. Our General Manager stated Avalon has apologized for the concerns your project has faced, offered compensation for the damages done to your landscaping, and willingness to correct any outstanding issues to your satisfaction. I had to fight to have the job completed. 2. The flat roof section was not sealed properly and leaked. 3. Black tar sealant was spilled on white trim and siding (cannot be removed). 4. Roof around chimney leaked and repair did not fix. Roof is presently leaking and Avalon will not respond to my complaint. > In addition, debris falling onto the flat roof by workers created a rain leak that destroyed the ceiling below. **Comment from Avalon Roofing and Exteriors:** > Here at Avalon Building Concepts we take all reactions from our customers seriously and understand your frustration with the experience. As all homeowner's roofs are unique, your roof has both asphalt and flat roofing materials. Our original contract was drawn up to reflect completion of a roof replacement to your asphalt roof with no mention of the flat roof. An addendum was later signed to reflect your wish to add the flat roof portion. With your winter inquiry, we were able to quickly complete the asphalt portion of your roof in December, but due to the cold weather had to wait for higher temperatures to complete your porch flat roof section. As you have since made a claim with our insurance we are unable to correct anything or make any repairs until an agreed upon amount has been settled. **★★★★★ — Jodeen Bissonette, May 2018** > Really happy with the price and workmanship on all of my home's new windows and sliding door. I got a lot of perks from them for the price. They offered me double panes on my windows at their single pane price point. I ended up requesting to wait to have everything installed until after all the snow. I was at work when they installed, but everything was unbelievable when I got home. I didn't really have to do any clean up inside as they were neat with the installation. I figured I would get a price, and see if it was worth having them do it over me. I got a good vibe from the guy they sent out to inspect my roof. He didn’t feed me crap I didn’t want so I agreed. The crew got here early before I went to work. They were friendly enough even though they were busy setting up. I came home to a new roof. Dumpster was picked up next day.
