> When we started, thinking about remodeling our full basement, we were not thinking about hiring an architect. Then as we realized we wanted to maximize the use of our space, we decided to get an architects help. David cam highly recommended from his former employer Board and Vellum and we reached out to him. Thankfully, he took on our project even after we threw him a curveball of our desire to turn half of the basement into an Airbnb. He is a great communicator and has great vision into seeing the potential of a blank canvas (in our case our bare basement). He came up with several drawings for planning the space and explained the nuances of each. The end result was exactly what we wanted and he made sure to work within our budget for the project. Going into our major basement remodel, we were not thinking about hiring and architect but now the project is complete, we consider ourselves lucky to have found David. ## Community Q&A

**Q: what is on the floor?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is it large porcelain tile? I also love the colours of this house. Especially the wood flooring on the walls.

A: Hi, thanks for your question.  The floor is actually the concrete slab with an integral color - a percentage of black pigment powder added to the concrete mix when it was poured in place.  The wall finish is a bleached T&G fir cladding, and the millwork is stained VG fir.
