I always knew I wanted to be an architect.  Taking an idea or vision and developing it into a three-dimensional object was thrilling and satisfying.  

As a little girl, I loved to build pretend houses with my Legos.  Each of the Lego houses had a story about the imaginary family that lived there.  They were my first clients.

Today, I engage with people to understand how they live and the spaces they want to create in their homes. Translating these dreams into a working floor plan makes each space unique to the client’s aesthetic.  The more a project reflects the client, the better I’ve done my job.  To be able to design and create homes is a childhood wish fulfilled everyday.  

I believe that simple can be beautiful.  I was raised in a clutter free modern house.  I’ve always been drawn to the clean lines of a contemporary house, but I’m also deeply fond of old homes with tremendous character and charm.  The moldings and trim that reflect a certain era set up the framework that defines the edges of rooms, windows, doors and cabinetry to give them a sense of permanence and nostalgia.

What makes a house, a room, a garden beautiful is most likely in the eyes of the beholder.  Except, here I’d like to share my experience on when design is most successful…the proportions are in harmony, the palette shows off the materials rather than detracting from them and there is undeniable sense of aesthetic ‘right’ that draws you in.
