The kitchen looks like new after all these years - the finish has worn beautifully, and everything works perfectly. I just bought a new house in VA, and had the designer price out the drawings of the old kitchen to see what it would cost today, given we want to stick pretty close to that design. The only thing that's giving me pause is the price - it's almost 3x the price. The age-old argument as to which core box construction material is better plywood or particle board can only be determined when both products are of equal quality. For example in Rutt's offering, we use only the finest grade of plywood from North America and the finest particleboard available (same grade material that is used in the finest European cabinetry (siematic, pogenpohl, bulthaup, etc). Because we feel confident in both of these quality products they both carry the same lifetime warranty. We simply let the customer decide what works best for them. However, if you are comparing cabinet manufacturers that purchase their plywood or particleboard from Asian countries, the materials are not of equal quality and it is not a fair comparison.
