We then had to contact them ourselves for more trim and at that time got taking with Dennis Weber from sales about their services. He was super friendly and passionate about their work. He referred us to Mike Eby from the design side of the house. Working closely with our designer, Mike worked on a blueprint for our living room. We wanted the design to have old world charm and quality. He was so invested in our project from the very start. What was unique is that he actually thought about details and offered expert advice instead of rushing to get the job done. When we moved to production, Mike remained involved, sometimes coming by to check on the progress just out of interest. He enjoyed our project because it was a throw-back to the past - we used solid wood for everything and incorporated details in our design. The two carpenters were equally invested. They were relentless in the pursuit of perfect and their attention to details was impeccable. The carpenters on our project had worked for Homestead for years and were true craftsmen passionate about their trade. They were very respectful of our space. In short, after years of working with many trades and several renovations, we wish we had found Homestead in the beginning - it would have saved so much money and hassle. We were so impressed by their work on our living room that we then hired them to work on our dining room as well. Our designer, Emily Wunder, who focuses on historic properties in Stratford, On is actually collaborating with Mike on a project as a result Mike’s work on our house. Our recent project was to renovate our mudroom and adjacent bathroom. They replaced the standard drywall closet with floor to ceiling stylish cabinetry including a space for a built-in stackable washer and dryer. We wanted a full size washer dryer but didn't want to lose any space in the mudroom. They proposed we build into the adjoining garage therefore allowing the cabinets to be flush with the closet allowing us to retain the original space. We really needed some additional storage space on the main floor, a unique cabinet with shelves and drawers was designed and built over the basement stairs. We did not want to lose any height over the stairs, the designer was very empathetic to our concerns and created a design we were all happy with. > The bathroom is a showpiece for guests as well as practical for daily use. Floor to ceiling cabinetry was built into the continuing wall from the mudroom giving additional storage which was requested. The vanity and mirror was built out of solid Walnut with a leathered granite top and copper sink. Beautiful! The shower is an elegant neo-angle shower, granite on the two exterior walls with floor to ceiling glass on the other three. Spectacular! Both rooms were trimmed in solid wood, high baseboard, wide trim and doors. A new heated tile floor was also installed. > Our finished room in the basement required a "facelift" and "updating". Homestead removed the stucco ceiling and beams, which allowed us to have additional lighting installed in the ceiling along with ceiling speakers. A drywall ceiling was installed and painted which opened up the room appearing larger. They replaced three existing doors with solid rustic cherry doors with substantial looking hardware. One of the doors was on our wish list, a sliding door that you would find in a barn or a castle. It was mounted on a sliding metal casing that was painted black. Absolutely stunning!
