**★★★★★ — Kate and Jim Pitt, Aug. 2021**

> Renee possesses a rare combination of artistic creativity and intuitive design. Her warmth and compassion extended beyond working with us to understanding the style and feel of our home and how we live in it. We felt fortunate to work with and get to know Renee and absolutely love the updates she made to our home- from windows and walls to artwork and furniture!

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you so much Kate and Jim.
> It was such a pleasure to work with you on your beautiful home. I am so grateful that you trusted the design style and I think the results are fabulous and really reflect the youthful energetic family that you are! I look forward to our next collaboration!

**★★★★★ — Ann & Jim Rickards, July 2020**

> Renee not only has an amazingly creative eye, she also directed a massive renovation for us this past year that included the challenges of operating during the pandemic. She put together a team that had an incredible work ethic and brought the project in on-time and
> on-budget. She's a great listener. When we threw ideas at her, she was never dismissive; quite the contrary, she made them better. Her patience and attention to detail combined with her whacky sense of humor meant we were all able to smile while producing a home that
> we love.
> A great talent and a great lady.

**★★★★★ — marystrath, June 2020**

> I have worked with Renee on a variety of design projects over the years. Resourceful, creative, clever and one of a kind are a few words that describe Renee and her design work. Not a "copy cat" designer. Want a look and finished project that is unlike any others that you will love for years to come, this is your designer!!

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you so much Mary for your kind words! We definitely are not a "One Size Fits All" design firm! We are so grateful to have partnered with you over the years and can't wait for our next project together!

**★★★★★ — Kristine Holleran, Jan. 2019**

> It was a delight to work with Renee and I am absolutely thrilled with the final outcome of the project. The entire house is stylish, yet comfortable and perfectly suited to my needs. After moving from a large colonial to a small two bedroom ranch, there was a need to redesign the open concept living/dining area to allow for entertaining family and friends. The guest bath needed to be reconfigured and a large shower added. The lighting needed changes and updating. I wanted a gas fireplace added as well. The house also came with some unfinished or poorly realized DIY projects that needed correction. I knew what needed to be done, but Renee was able to articulate my style. She added finishes such as the walnut windowsills, mantle and fireplace surround that would never have occurred to me, yet somehow are just what i wanted. By offering choices in lighting, cabinets, flooring I could make a final decision without the angst of reviewing the hundreds/thousands of products available. The choices were such that whatever I selected it would look wonderful. Her artful choice of color palette still wows me.
> Renee was respectful of my time and budget. She understood the need to make design choices that were safe, practical and comfortable for the three large dogs that share this small home. And she did so without sacrificing one iota of style. Renee was professional, honest and a lot of fun to work with!
> Renee is well connected to vendors that have an excellent array of quality products within a variety of price ranges. My contractor was exceptionally pleased with how easy she was to work with and how smoothly everything on her end of the project ran.
> For these reasons and more, I highly recommend Mandeville Canyon Designs.

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you so much for your kind words Kris.
> It was an absolute pleasure to work with you and the pups. I appreciate your inspiration and insights and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you again in the future!

> Renee has helped me design the space for both of my Physical Therapy offices. The spaces are so warm and comfortable. Our clients really enjoy the space and presents our company is a very professional manner.

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you so much for your kind words JoAnn.
> It was a pleasure to work on these spaces and bring a sense of tranquility and nature into these environments.
> I look forward to the opportunity to work together again in the future.

> I worked with Mandeville Canyon Designs to update my home. The experience was exceptional. Renee really understood how I use my home and what I like. She was incredibly detailed in her design from the furniture, window treatments, art, accessories all the way to the perfect electrical outlets. Nothing was overlooked.
>
> Renee provides white glove service. She took care of everything so I didn’t have any stress throughout the project. Whenever I had a question, she responded quickly and even worked directly with the contractors so I could concentrate on work and family. Everything was perfect.
>
> My house is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. I love walking in my front door.
>
> I’m lucky to have worked with such talented, thoughtful and caring person. Going forward, I will only work with Renee and Mandeville Designs.

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you so much for your kind words Brian.
> I am honored to have worked on your home and for the trust you instilled in me for every room in your house.
> I so value our working relationship as well as all the inspiration.
> I am looking forward to continuing our work for some time to come.

**★★★★★ — Tara M, Dec. 2016**

> Renee is amazing on so many levels. We worked with 2 designers before her and my husband and I wish we would have found Renee sooner!!! Not only is she a very creative designer, she is a very kind person. We always feel comfortable talking through things with her. She really listens and got to know us and our personal taste very well. I referred a good friend to her and she is also very happy with Mandeville Canyon Designs. I will definitely be using Mandeville Canyon Designs again as things come up! The other thing I want to mention is how well Renee manages relationships with the subcontractors, which is key when trying to execute a design. She has a cheerful and kind demeanor and everyone who works with her likes and respects her. You really can't go wrong with Mandeville Canyon. Thank you, Renee, for everything you have done for us. Our home wouldn't be nearly as special as it is without you and your ideas!

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Tara, thank you so much for your kind words. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you and Tom. You were constantly upbeat and positive even through the tough times, and that attitude is definitely contagious!
> I can't wait to work in our next project!

**★★★★★ — Shawn Fahey, Dec. 2016**

> I purchased a home with the intention of having a pool and entertainment space however I didn't realize the challenge of having a sloped yard as well as a water drainage issue. I didn't know where to start and Renee Carman was recommended to me. I feel extremely lucky to have been directed to her. She and I worked well together and could depend on her to provide me with a classy design and to be there the entire project to communicate with the landscapers, contractors, electricians, pool company and plumbers. It was an extremely large job and she handled everything and everyone with professionalism and grace.

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you Shawn. It was a pleasure working with you on this project.
> We were so fortunate to have such a talented team to tackle this project.
> I wish you many years of joy in your backyard oasis!

**★★★★★ — Anthony Mills, Dec. 2016**

> Renee has been an absolute pleasure to work with and has significantly simplified the design of our new home. She has provided so much character and personality with her ideas that my wife and I would never have created on our own. Renee is worth the investment and I would highly recommend sitting down with her to discuss your needs. Use Mandeville Canyon Design and you will improve the quality of your project!.

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you Anthony. It is such a pleasure to work with the both of you. Your home is truly stunning and great reflection of you and your family.

**★★★★★ — alley\_amandal, May 2016**

> Renee and Heather are incredible designers in every way! They really listened to us - our likes, dislikes, even in between the lines. They designed 5 rooms for our new home and we were stunned at how well they captured our styles while also giving us the confidence to try new things that would still feel like a natural part of our home. Both Renee and Heather were professional, friendly, accessible, and so considerate of our budget; we had a limited amount to spend and they worked with us every step of the way to make sure we were able to get what we wanted while staying within our means. I can't say enough about what a joy it was to work with them and how good it feels to have a plan that we love for our new home. If you're looking to remodel your home, even just one room, take the plunge and hire Mandeville Canyon, I promise you won't regret it!

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> Thank you so much! It was a joy to work with your family as well. We love to have the opportunity to work for fun energetic people that love to take chances!
> Enjoy your new design!

**★★★★★ — Susan\` Gorman, April 2016**

> Mandeville Canyon Design, and Renee in particular, is the kind of design firm that I wish everyone knew about. I cannot say enough good things about how taken care of I feel through an entire home remodel/renovation. Renee's so talented, but one of the best things about her work is how she really listens to me as a client. She is a fabulous sounding board, and she is also quite good at "listening" to the space she's working in. In this way we have ended up with a home that is beautiful, livable, and functioning for all of us. Renee has helped me with my office as well--there isn't any design question or project I wouldn't ask her about first.

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> We have so enjoyed our relationship! Thank you for trusting us with your most precious cargo, your home and your family. We look forward to making more magic!

**★★★★★ — Jaye Carr Design & Renovations, LLC, April 2016**

> Renee has worked with us on may projects. She brings such creativity and flexibility to each aspect of interior design. We have renovated a barn, kitchen, & bathrooms with her expertise. She always knows when to add a pop of color or a rustic piece to finish a room and her knowledge of the construction process is such a bonus. I would highly recommend Renee for any interior design project, large or small!

**Comment from Mandeville Canyon Designs:**

> What an amazing project and a privilege to assist with this fabulous home. From beams, to barnwood this home is truly a reflection of the wonderful family within!

 - Description: This home design, situated along a river, was all about the views. From every room, we wanted the view to be the star! The previous design focus of this home was heavy with Italian influence. While a committed style, it ignored the significance of nature and the ability for the current family to enjoy all that it had to offer. We added more windows, reconfigured rooms, including adding a much needed 70' hallway to create a link from one end of the house to the other, without having to pass throu…

 - Description: We strive to listen, really listen to each one of clients. We look for clues for how they live and how they want to live. We love to know their favorite colors, music, hobbies. What brings them joy, and what stresses them out! We can channel all that to give them a home of comfort and peace (with a healthy dose of playfulness too!). - Description: This was a beautiful antique home with lots of charm throughout. While it was in great condition, it needed to be brought into the new millennium. These homeowners are young and hip, with a playful sense. They wanted to respect the homes past while also making it fresh and comfortable. We renovated the entire kitchen, dining room, living room, front entryway and sunroom, creating a more cohesive and inviting flow. Fun pops of color paired with light wood tones strike a perfect balance in this de…

The custom beer bar with pipe tap and matching pub table and console were made by the talented homeowner. We added a custom double desk workspace and top that and the bar with Dekton's Industrial Series- Trilium. Keeping the very best memories of the home, we then layered on an organic modern twist that reflected the current homeowners personality and passions. Incorporating many Biophilic principals, we took our cues from the beautiful lake and flora that surrounded the property. A love of travel and entertaining are evident from every room. - Description: This super fun family wanted to combine their love with modern while preserving some of the homes original details. Jonathan Adlers playful and vibrant blue palette was just the infusion of color that we needed to set the tone. We combined this with show stopping plank tile by La Fabrica in Tasmin. This gave it both a modern and rustic feel allowing us to keep the existing fireplace. We modernized it with a walnut surround for the TV and base. Finishing the room we flanked a pair of Global View…

Keeping a similar footprint, we were able to offer the homeowners a private WC, freestanding tub with interior tub filler and a generous walk in shower with rain head and resting shelf. We updated the cabinet with a warm wood and gently striated granite. Finishing touches included lots of organic limestone and natural marble and stone elements.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the couch!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me where you got it? Thanks so much!

A: Glad you like it! It is a custom sofa with customers on fabric created for us by Lancaster Customworks. You can DM us for more info on how to purchase.
Best,
Renee

**Q: Where can I find the bed frame?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the color of the bed and was wondering if this a custom unit or something that was bought at a store?

A: It is actually an upholstered headboard. The good news is teal colored headboards are plentiful and not very expensive. For a custom look you could certainly use your own fabric (often called COM- Customers Own Fabric), but you can easily find them on most big box sites. Here is an inexpensive version from Wayfair, but I would also suggest sites like Bassett and Ballard! Good luck!

**Q: Backsplash suggestions to coordinate with Cambria Praa Sands, please!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Good afternoon! We have finalized cabinets (all "midnight blue"), range hood, hardware (nearly there, definitely doing aged brass) and appliances. We LOVE Cambria's Praa Sands and want to do it on all countertop surfaces. We are struggling with what sort of backsplash we might do with it it-- we want to do something simple, but don't want to do white because it would be white-on-white with the hood. Any suggestions?? I've seen some Praa Sands clashing and want to avoid that! Walls in the rest of the kitchen will be white, for context, and we haven't yet decided pendants but will do two medium sized ones. Thanks for your input!

A: I would suggest pulling out one of the lesser seen colors in the Cambria as long as it doesn't clash with other colors in the cabinetry or room. A simple glass subway tile in Taupe would be classic and allow you to play around with the blues in accessories.
Taupe Glass Tile

**Q: WHICH PICKET DESIGN/ PATTERN/ STYLE YOU LIKE MOST, THANKS** *(in Polls)*

WONDERING WHICH PATTERN DESIGN OR STYLE OF PICKETS ARE LIKED BY THE MAJORITY.
REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP

\*\* pls note the square picket could go in the center like the oval design \*\*
\*\* seeing if -- black straight design - oval in the middle - square in the middle or stainless steel is most liked

A: Make sure you are listening to the design of the house. With my permanent pieces, I tend to design in a more neutral/classic style. It's always easy to change out a pillow, not so much with a staircase!

**Q: Help with grout color selection for backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi all, Houzz community has been so helpful the past couple days. Our last decision for the project!
Please let me know which grout color you think works best for the space and tile. These are our final options. Either go light and create some contrast or dark and blend in. Not sure what works best. We like the Twilight Blue grout but could see a good case for the grays to highlight the tile a bit.

EDIT: Added Slate Gray, forgot about that one. It's a lighter blue-gray and added pics of the tile on the wall.

Sterling Silver

Smoke Gray

Twilight Blue

SLATE GRAY

Note: our cabinets are actually blue-gray, not white!

A: Hi Brian I actually said go for the dark blue as long as a pro is installing. With the thin grout lines, it should be great!

**Q: help!!! decor for from of house** *(in Landscape Design)*

How do we make this redone old farm house look better from the front ??

A: I would start with some fun shutters and window boxes. If you are handy, there are plenty of DIY ideas on line. Be careful to scale them smaller on either side of the sconces. Because your red roof is such a prominent feature, I think adding more wood in would really help. If there is money in the budget, I would also replace the door with a natural wood door. Perhaps Fir or both the windows and door.
Another idea would be to use a stacked stone veneer below the siding line. A sweet white railing would tie in the white trim and a few inexpensive side sconces will complete the look!
Tame the shrubs in the front and add some locally grow perennials for color. Good Luck!
