What a great decision! We met Bud Mann, who directed us to Tom Marsh at Intelligent Design, and we began working on the plans. From there on out, Bud, Justin, and the Cornerstone crew were a pleasure to work with. Their attention to detail was impeccable, and they were always willing to listen to our ideas and to offer their own suggestions. Every vendor or subcontractor that we worked with had nothing but fine things to say about them as well. As the project moved to completion, they were careful to keep track of all of the details that needed to be wrapped up, and were available to follow up on things that surfaced after we moved in. Also, their costs were within the amounts they had quoted – we were not surprised by unexpected overages. We’ve been in our house for three years, and just hired Cornerstone again to re-build our garage. We’d recommend them to anyone looking to build or renovate in northern Michigan. Our relationship started nearly 10 years ago with meeting Bud Mann. Back then, we visited several ongoing projects with Bud and were impressed not only with the work his crews were doing but with Bud's openness and understanding. Our retirement home design went thru several iterations with two Architects before we had what we were looking for. Through all of this, Bud was there with ideas and suggestions to help us. When we finally broke ground, Justin Mann, Bud's son, and his crew were always ready to answer our questions and explain every facet of the build as it progressed. > > When we researched our potential Builder and followed up on the references we received from several of them, the same story was repeated when we met with some of Cornerstone's customers. My house had been used as a summer cabin at Higgins Lake, vacant the previous 23 winters, and I was new to the area and turning it into a year round residence. > I asked a nearby homeowner who was having work done by Cornerstone if he recommended them. When he did, I called. > Bud Mann, Cornerstone Construction, presented several solutions with detailed quotations based on his experience in the snowy winter conditions on my style house for the repair work needed. > I did not want a patch job, nor did I want the problem to come back. He listened to my preferences and I selected a siding that he ordered for my job which came in on time. This is not always a given! We made smooth transitions to an upgrade or two with the exterior trim and deck, plus the installation of a mount for a brass carriage lamp that I found at a local thrift store as we neared completion. > The crew was on time each day, and the job was completed on the date promised. I was impressed with their professionalism. > I'm very happy with the results.
