I took excellent care of the tree. This Spring it didn’t bloom and is half dead. I contacted Steve. He said very nicely, the warranty has expired. That’s a lot of money down the drain and now we have a dead tree. Why wouldn’t you just buy from Pikes if they have a lifetime guarantee on the their trees? We do warranty all our work for one year, including the plants. For you to say that we don't, is not truthful at all. If we replaced things after the warranty period, we would go out of business. We have in the past even replaced plants after the warranty if it looks like we did something to contribute to the issue. In this instance that is not the case and we did everything correctly as we always do. If this was in the warranty period, it would be done, no questions asked. Steve put together a fantastic plan and Brian and his team from Concept were phenomenal bringing the plans to life (Brian kept promising it was going to be beautiful, and is is). I spent weeks trying to get the owner Steve Montgomery to give me a quote for an outdoor kitchen, landscaping and lighting and all I kept getting from him was "you know we're not the lowest price". He told me this over 7 times while walking my property and when he committed to give me numbers he then tells me "I don't think we're the best fit for you because it seems you want a deal." Now I happen to live in a $1.6M home in one of the most exclusive gated communities in Sandy Springs AND happen to be African American. When I let him know that he was insulting me but continuing to reference the cost without ever giving me the full quote AND then proceeded up on me hang up telling me he doesn't need my business. I made a courtesy call to him to talk about pricing and I was trying to explain why his assessment of my pricing was incorrect. He then started talking over me and not listening to what I was saying. Since he was not listening I very respectfully told him that I did not think it was going to work out. I wished him luck on his project and hoped it all went well for him. He may not have heard me as he was still talking, but I did say that and then proceeded to hang up. It would have been pointless to stay on the line with him at that point. He did not want to hear my explanation. I have been in business for 35 years and have a great reputation on customer service. Please read my other reviews and you will see what kind of company I run. A very good one. He then sent me a very disrespectful and scathing email after our phone conversation and I again responded very respectfully that I wished him all the best and I hoped his project turned out well. When you meet me you will know right away what kind of person I am and will want to do business with me. I guess in this case he was just not happy that I decided it best not to do business with him. I also want to say that I never did any work for him and never gave him an estimate or proposal. I did give him some very rough idea of cost, but nothing formal. So last year, we decided to upgrade it with a major project to put in a patio and fix the access to the back part of the lot. We talked to quite a number of people and got several quotes, but in the end, we chose Steve and his company because he instantly felt knowledgeable and sincere and had the background and reviews to stand behind his/their workmanship. > > We started with bringing in a herd of 38 goats to clear the underbrush, which was cool and only took a few days (we highly recommend goats!). Then we had to remove some trees and some larger brush. In the meantime, Steve had come back with a set of plans that were exactly what we wanted - a natural and appropriate stone patio that would go well with our forested yard. And it included a path across the creek! Once the project started, it was a huge amount of effort for them, and watching the guys haul in giant boulders and hand carve each one to shape was pretty fascinating. The crew carefully placed each stone and used a variety of materials to buld a large patio, a dry creek bed in an area on the side that always flooded, great lighting, a deck expansion, improved drainage and a natural looking staircase down to the creek and up the opposite side. > > While it took a long time (due to the amount of work, coupled with being the second rainiest year in Atlanta), the end results were well worth it. Our patio is now usable and perfect for bringing friends over. Just look at the other reviews that have been sent. She was very happy with the work and we stand by our work. She had a 1 year warranty on the work which is very normal for this kind of job. Over three years later, she wanted me to look at some other work and look at this very small part of the patio that had sunken in near the wall we built. This looked like it was caused by excessive rain that poured off the roof and in to this area. This was a very minor repair and it was past the warranty period. If it had been during the warranty period, we would have taken care of it, immediately, even if it was not a result of our doing. She only wanted the repair done after I had spent much time and effort on putting together the entire quote for additional work. I told her that I was not interested in doing such a minor repair and that she would be better off using another company that did this kind of work. I believe It would be cheaper to use another company that does this kind of work. Currently I do not have a small crew that can do this. She was very insulting, rude and said some things that were not very nice at all. It is not about the money, as I would have done this for free if I knew she was going to be so unreasonable. The bottom line is that this is not a fair review in any way and I hope that people will look at the other reviews and see that I am a reputable company that only does excellent work. To respond like this in such a negative way after "3" plus years is not reasonable at all.
