When they came out to inspect our chimney they gave us a quote for the chimney but also additional work that they recommended us to do. Aesthetically, our Tuckpointing around our house was not eye pleasing. The colors were off and the work looked like it needed to be done. So we agreed to move forward with the project. > After the job was complete, the chimney looked okay. The brick didn’t match our existing bricks. General masonry said “our house is old and the brick was not available.” We have 2 chimneys so now 1 is a “newer” brick and our original chimney is a different color. Not a big deal. > Moving forward, our Tuckpointing…. They did an awful job. They forgot to patch up some areas and had we not mentioned it to them, they wouldn’t have even known. It was “extra work” for them to come out to finish the job. The “new material” they used, does not match. They told us “it takes time for it to fade and it will match.” So we waited. A year and a half has passed and the Tuckpointing is cracking and it is worse than what it was before hiring general masonry. I called general masonry to see how we can fix this problem and if they warranty their work. They came out and blamed it on our foundation. We got several different quotes from other companies stating, it’s not our foundation but really poor workmanship from general masonry. So I called general masonry again and they are now trying to invoice us for coming back out to inspect their work! This company is a joke! In pictures their work looks decent but working with them is a nightmare. They will not fix their mistakes, they do not warranty their work, and they will argue with you and waste your time and money. They completely redid the chimney using more solid mortar and lath installation and replaced cracked brick on the corners of the house.
