My wife and I had never built before and really didn’t know exactly what that looked like. We were originally drawn to Demlang Builders after visiting their Harper and Dakota models. We liked the basic layouts and the fit and finish of both models. > > After meeting Rod Demlang and talking with him about our needs and wants we decided they would be the right builder to work with. Rod is very honest and fair. I had heard plenty of nightmares about building but with Demlang Builders you’re going to get exactly what your contract says. It was really a comfort going through this year plus process having great confidence in the owner of the company. > > The contracting and budgeting process was straight forward and easy from our end. Our expeditor’s name was Aaron and I can say he is wonderful to work with. He is a very good and honest man and will work to get you exactly the home you designed and contracted. You end up working with the expeditor more than anyone else in the home building process and it is really wonderful to work with someone who is excellent at their job, attentive to your needs, and has a real passion for doing things right. > > There are many months that go by from the start of the process to finally moving in. The design team and project manager were always on top of everything and frequently updated me on the progress. The quality of my build is also great and I am pleased with that. They would get a 5 star rating for everything up until that time. > > On the day of my close I was notified that I would need to pay them several thousand dollars for additional building materials, which was inconsistent with the rest of the build. Any time there was an adjustment I was notified and a change order was completed. That was different for the closing, just a bill the day before saying that I owed thousands of additional dollars. As for warranty claims, I still have some that are 9 months old... in comparison, they built the entire house quicker than fixing some items. The only time there are any updates on the warranty claims is when I reach out. If I don't reach out they remain open and unattended to. My septic tank was never hooked up to power and therefore not pumping anything out until I noticed the issue several months later. They had to trench my already landscaped yard and have done nothing to fix it since, basically leaving that responsibility to me to take care of.
