**Q: laminam countertops** *(in Building a Home)*

Anyone used laminam for their countertops and how do you fee about it?
We really like the look of percelain but are horrified by the Neolith story shared here. How about laminam? Thanks for sharing!

A: Hello all! We shared this thread with Lindsey Waldrep, Crossville's VP of Marketing, as we offer Crossville Porcelain Countertops (a really cool innovation for countertops--12mm porcelain slabs from Laminam). Lindsey offered this response: "Laminam and Neolith use very different manufacturing processes, so they aren't the same. Neolith is made in a mold so there is a lot of stress in the product. It makes fabrication difficult and can cause product issues on site with improper fabrication. Laminam has no stress as it is not made in a mold. This helps the fabrication process immensely. What I love about a porcelain countertop is that it doesn't require sealing (stone does) and you can put hot pans on it (you can't with quartz). Porcelain is very durable... think about your grandmother's china and how it has lasted for generations versus cheap stoneware from Target or Walmart.  If you have a very active kitchen, I would go with an unpolished finish for the highest durability and scratch resistance. I hope this helps."  https://youtu.be/BfnDate2ums

A: Hi there! That countertop is gauged porcelain tile panel from our Laminam by Crossville line-up. A very innovative, relatively new category for the U.S. tile industry; the tile is measured in feet, not inches yet is only a few millimeters in thickness.
