The proposal was a book that demonstrated years of experience, a wonderful design that I could never have envisaged, and a thorough understanding of my situation. The product in the picture is an ipe hardwood porch floor with it's natural color coming through with oil specific for ipe. As far as products we use for other wood projects, we utilize Cabot Stain products. It is also a difficult one to answer with so many choices for roofing, trim, decking, railing, etc. out there in the market. This particular porch uses Fiberon decking materials (a synthetic product with a PVC wrap around a fiber-composite core), Fortress railing products (wrought iron with a hammered bronze finish) and a trim package that matches the house. The size of this porch is approximately 12' x 12'. There is another feature unseen in this photo; an under-deck system with lighting and fans to keep the entire area beneath the deck and porch protected from moisture and useable as an entertainment space. I think I want a white railing. Thanks. A: We use quite a bit of Fiberon Horizon Ipe which is a Cap Stock product (composite wrapped in pvc). This product has been very well received due to its ability to keep maintenance costs to a minimum while providing the appearance of a Brazilian Hardwood.
