**★★★★★ — Gideon Pollack, Nov. 2018**

> Joanne Palmisano is the most creative design professional I have ever worked with, and as a developer I work with a lot of them. Joanne brings a design aesthetic and business sensibility to everything she does and so I always know that the ideas she comes up with, and the materials she selects, tick two very important boxes; they make the guest/resident feel like they’re in a truly special environment, and they leave the client knowing that they are going to generate maximum ROI. Those two are very intertwined. I met Joanne when I had bought a property in need of a total retrofit, but I now look for properties that I can work on with Joanne because if it’s a project Joanne can add value to I know I will execute successfully.

**Comment from Joanne Palmisano Design:**

> Thank you so much Gideon. You are a joy to work with!!

> I found Joanne on Houzz when I was looking into decorating the first floor of my home. I knew I wanted my home to have style, but didn't know exactly what kind of style I liked, nor did I know how to achieve getting that look once I figured out what it was!
> After our first consultation, I knew Joanne was THE designer for me! She knows all the right questions to ask me to insure the end result will be just perfect! She has such a talented eye and is great at communicating her vision in a way that I am able picture it as well.
> With her salvage savvy and DIY advice, my first floor is turning into everything I wanted...and more...including just the right wall colors, awesome furniture and rug ideas, plus a reclaimed wood wall in my mudroom and a DIY project consisting of stripping and painting my dining room hutch to change it to a bar for my living room! I'm mid-way thru the project now and can't wait to see the end result!

> Joanne Palmisano and I work together often. She is always pleasant, professional and excited about her work. I’ve collaborated with Joanne on her Salvage Secrets books, her projects for DIY NETWORK, presentations across the nation, and have had her style many homes I photograph for builders, architects and other designers.
>
> She has an amazing eye and I’m always blown-away with her natural ability to see how design and styling should work within a space and how she can easily incorporate salvage material into any home or design style.
> Working with Joanne, whether it is hiring her to style homes or traveling with her to talk about salvage design and photography, is always a pleasure. I would highly recommend contacting Joanne Palmisano, if you are looking for that extra something in your home for styling and design or for a salvage design/decor presentation.

> We hired Joanne Palmisano to manage the interior design of the Mad River Barn in Waitsfield, Vermont (www.madriverbarn). The Mad River Barn (or "the Barn", as people call it) is an Inn, Restaurant, and Pub located at the base of the Appalachian Gap, serving skiers, cyclists, craft beer enthusiasts, and other travelers exploring all the great things that Vermont has to offer.
>
> We found Joanne on Houzz even before we purchased the Barn, after finding photos she had posted related to the particular design style we were looking for (we'd call it "rustic farmhouse with an edge of industrial"). Joanne's expertise in salvage design was also important, as we wanted to ensure the Barn retained its connection to the past, while at the same time, delivering a more modern experience for guests.
>
> Joanne is amazing! I really do not have enough words to describe how awesome she is. She has completely transformed the Barn. People tour it now just to marvel at the design, commenting on all of the creative design elements located throughout. One of the elements most frequently commented on is the restaurant welcome sign, where "The Barn" is spelled out using old plumbing handles and bits of copper pipe. Another favorite is light fixture Joanne made out of bed springs from the 1950's, which believe it or not, were still in use when we acquired the property. The guest rooms are also a favorite - they are gorgeous. Exactly perfect for the Barn. You can take a quick tour through our TripAdvisor listing, where you'll see that the majority of the comments are about how awesome Joanne's design is. It amazes me that people like Joanne exist - people that can see things that aren't there, and create such beautiful surroundings. She is a gift, and we are truly blessed to have met her.

> Joanne helped me re-design my Kitchen. I had a kitchen in a 1926 house that had not been updated in over 40 years. She helped me bring my kitchen back to life and most importantly helped me add some elements using Salvaged materials that made one-of-a-kind statement pieces. It was a great combination of modern, unique and comfortable. She did such an amazing job that my kitchen was featured in Better Homes and Garden magazine. She helped me envision what my kitchen could be and helped me keep on a very tight budget.

**Comment from Joanne Palmisano Design:**

> This was a great project. Opening up the space, letting the light into this home was a huge help. Mixing the old with the new, gives this kitchen amazing charm!

## Community Q&A

**Q: What are the dimensions of this sink?? Thanks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hello This kitchen and the rest of the house were featured in my first book, Salvage Secrets. This a home of an architect in Portland Oregon. I don't know the exact dimensions of the sink, but I do remember it was about 3 feet long and around 14 inches wide. Hope that helps :)

**Q: Love the chandelier! My new favourite thing!!!!!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you please tell me where you found this? Alternatively, did you have it commissioned and by whom?
Look forward to hearing from you,
Thank you,
Rachel B.

A: This picture was in my first book Salvage Secrets. This house happens to be one of my closest friends. She actually made the chandelier herself out of bottles she found in the backyard. More about her and the story... Shannon Quimby is her name. There is a great Houzz article about the whole house! :)

**Q: I love the reddish color--can you share the color you used?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Thanks for your inquiry. I think it was cochineal red

CW-330 Benjamin Moore. Hope that helps!! :)

**Q: Did you stain that red barn door?** *(in Photo Questions)*

It's beautiful! If so could you share the name/ color of stain and the wood type?

Thank you

A: The door was originally green and the homeowner did a red over it and liked the green showing through a bit so left it that way.

**Q: Any idea what paint color is on the walls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I don't know... Sorry.

**Q: Is there anyway I can purchase this light fixture? It is magnificant and just what I am looking for over the** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The chandelier was made by the talented Shannon Quimby in the photography from my book. www.shannonquimby.com
